Painting fenders, sand papers grits?
Alright im going to be re-doing my fenders this week and weekend, They have a few dents and scrathes. So i far i sanded them with 320, that just basically knocked the clear and some paint off. I got 80, 120, 220, 400 now. im thinking after i use the 120 im going to use body filler on the dents . after using body filler go back over 80 than 120, 220. Than im going to spray a sealer, than primer. is my method of thinking correct?
Well the method we use at my shop is blocking a dent with 180, use filler, block it with 180, than 320 and feather the 180 scratches out. The, prime the bondo/filler to seal it. block with 180 than 320 to get the peal out than mow thw prime spots with 320 and 500 til scratches are all the way out. wet the primed areas and finish the fender off in 500
WEll im using my brothers name to reply since it wont log me out of his to my sn, blue horiz0n. It's always good to use sealer to seal it up but i didnt know if you were going to go that route because sealer is use din the painting process and i didnt know if you were painting it yourself. Now to paint i would go, sealer, base, color, clear
here's my write up without mispelle dword shopefully lol

bondo/filler will not stick to sanded paint..dont do that unless you want it to fall out/crack in the future while driving. glazing putty will stick to sanded paint. but has to be sanded with 80 grit. if dent is large, sand to bare metal, straighten it, then use bondo/ filler block then go with glazing putty. if its a small ding just go with the putty. yes sealer after prime is good.
