Default Rear Motor Mount questions

So, I'm damn sure that my rear motor mount is shot. I have been having some problems shifting into 3rd and 5th while the car is accelerating. It eventually goes into gear, but it takes a little time... Also, I jacked the car up and put it on jackstands, and started it.. the motor vibrated like crazy! It sounded terrible.

So anyways.. My two torque mounts are shot, and I'm sure that the rear is shot as well.

I know it's a Pain in the *** to replace the rear one, but I am going to have to do it.

Here is my plan.. I'm going to loosen the two torque mounts, loosen the two other mounts, and remove the intake mani. Then hopefully I'll be able to pull the mount bracket out completely and attach the new one to the bracket. Slide it back in, then tighten it up. (I know I'm making it sound MUCH easier than it's going to actually be)

My questions are.. What bolts in the side mounts, and torque mounts should I actually loosen to make this easier? The actual middle bolts?
And is it in fact easier to go through the top, and not underneath?? I have no way of pulling the motor.

And finally, would just a Autozone mount work ok? I don't need something outstanding, just something that will do the job.

Do you think that this is my fix, for the tranny issue?

yes a autozone mount will work, your speaking vehicle specific.

if you have your intake mani off it makes it soooooo easy..

once you take your mani off you will see the bolt you need to remove its a pretty easy job though

I have to recommend not removing the intake manifold unless you have plans of doing other things while you're in there. It's really more trouble than it's worth. That said, with the rear bracket completely unbolted, and with the lower mounts disconnected, you should be able to rock the engine forward enough to get the rear mount out without much difficulty, it's a little tight, but still reachable.

So, if I disconnect the bottom mounts completely, and take the bolts out of the rear bracket, I don't have to worry about the engine dropping or putting stress on the other two mounts that are still connected?

if you want to stffen up the engine mounts in addition to the new mounts, energy suspension makes bushing inserts that fill in the holes in the stock bushings. they come in a set of 3, the two lower torque mounts and the rear engine mount.
