Default question about connecting rods

i have a b18b1 i am working on ok so here is my question i know yall do not like this but i am building a turbo motor but my question i cause i want to lower my compresion if i put a shorter conecting rod in will it lower my compresion? also wouldn't the shorter rods also make it able to handle higher rpm capability? cause i was informed that have a such a short conecting rod is why a crotch rocket can rev so high was i miss informed

why the hell would you post this in the all motor forum?

try it, be sure to install a tach that goes up to 15k

Let us know how you make out.

You are partially on the right track. While an increased R/S ratio will alow you to rev higher, safer, you would also need to port your head for that rpm range and use a cam designed for it. As far as using a shorter rod to lower c/r, yes that would technically work, however it is not the proper way to do it. Also when you start talking about high rpms you run into things like rod stretch and other fun stuff. Stay below 9000 rpms, there's a reason cars don't rev that high.

a shorter rod isnt the answer to lowering compression. yes it will lower the compression, but you're just putting the piston at a much lower position and doesnt put the piston at a right compression where it will still be able to have proper combustion.

a longer rod and a shorter crank stroke will give you a better r/s ratio and a more rev happy engine

so your say goin with a stock rod length and a shorter crank travel would be more dependable the a stock crank and short rod

Shorter rods will lower your compression, but thats not really the right way to do things...
Shorter stroke, high rod to stroke ratio, and lightweight components all help in high rpm stability...(Like crotch rockets)
Since your going turbo, Id just run the stock geometry bottom end with forged internals and the correct turbo...You wont need to necessarily rev high to make power cause youll have a broad *** powerband... damn turbos
Now go ask yourself...Do you reeeeaaaally want to turbo your engine?
150 hp per liter, 9k rpms, and excellent throttle response doesnt appeal to you?
What about 30 mpg, reliable as hell, easier to work on, and a stockish appearance?
