another y8/y7 manny thread!!
just got an 1999 AUTO Y8 intake manifold for my Y7 AUTO DX, i got the tb from the y8 as well, do i need anything else for this swap, from what ive read i need some brace/bracket? but mine's an auto, so it should just bolt up right?
What year is your Y7?
If it isn't a 99-00 than you will have to plug up the air injection holes on your intake manifold, assuming it is the same as a USDM Y8 manifold.
As for any brackets, make sure your Y8 manifold has a throttle cable bracket attached.
You can get a Y8 throttle cable to make it look a bit cleaner, but it isn't necessary.
Wiring should be all plug and play, but you might have to split the wire loom since some of the sensors are a bit further apart compared to the location of the Y7 sensors.
You need a air intake system for the Y8.
Make sure you get a new intake manifold gasket. Doesn't matter if it is from a Y8 or Y7.
Also, make sure you clean off your old intake manifold gasket very well. You do not want to find any coolant or air leaking after everything is installed.
It is a good time to get some brake clean or carb cleaner to clean out the IACV as well as your new manifold if you havent done it already.
Lastly, make sure you have a bottle or 2 of coolant. A good amount of coolant will come out of the intake manifold if you dont want to drain your radiator.
