Default flow chart question??

INTAKE

VALVE LIFT --------------0.050 --- --0.100 ----- 0.200 ----- 0.300 -----0.400 ----- 0.500
( In.)
FLOW SCALE VALUE ------ 70.7 -------150 --------295 --------295 -------- 295 ----------295
(calib. data card )
FLOW METER / TOTAL ---74 / 52 --- 66 / 99 ---56 / 165---75.5 / 229 --- 89 / 263 --- 94 / 277
(stock)
FLOW METER / TOTAL ---77 / 54 --- 69 / 103.5 --62.5 / 184 --79 / 233-- 90 / 265.5-- 97 / 286
(after porting)

Exhaust
VALVE LIFT ----------------0.050-------0.100------- 0.200 --------0.300--------0.400--------0.500
( In.)
FLOW SCALE VALUE --------77.4---------156 ----------156----------314 --------- 314----------314
(from calib. data card)
FLOW METER / TOTAL ----47 / 36------50 / 78-------88 / 137----56 / 176 ----63 / 198-----65 / 204
( stock )
FLOW METER / TOTAL ---62.5 / 48------63 / 98------87 / 136----60 / 188----65 / 204---68 / 213.5
( after porting )

this was flowwed at 25''
see at .200 the exhaust flow goes down? Think I maybe tweeked something that messed up flow at that lift or could it have been a error? I'm confused since it flowwed better everywhere else.

Default FV-QR

Its not necessarily a "screw up". You sacrifice a dead spot in one area for improvements in another, much like a dyno chart.

I see do you think that since it's happening at a low lift maybe it has to do with the blending of the seat?
I look forward to making good power the way it ended up tho.
I hope.. This was my first head and I now can't wait to do another.

Default FV-QR

I dont even know what valve job you used, throat %, chamber transition, short size height, and to be honest, even if I did, sometimes we cant let the whole cat out of the bag.

Sometimes what looks good on the flowbench doesnt look good on the dyno or at the racetrack. I wouldnt worry too much. If those numbers are accurate on the INT side, it should run well.

I do appreciate your input .

How did you prep the head for flowing those stock numbers are considerably higher then I get on the SF600 I use @28 and your @25?

as far as I know the head was simply hot tanked and maybe bead blasted a bit before it was flowwed I'lln find out wich flow bench they have if you like and yes they flow at 25'' where I went.

another question. Do you recomend porting with the valve guides removed or not?

It is fine to port with the guides in place.

Just curious...what head was that and was it ported before you had it redone? H22 head maybe? The gains from before and after are really low, so I was just curious if maybe the head wasn't stock when you took it in.

The low spot at .200 could be as simple as a piece of clay pulling into the port while they flowed...or whatever they used around the port entry. You would be suprised how something far away from the port entry can affect the numbers. It could be error. If it picked up below that, and above it..it is highly inlikely that it lost flow there at .200.

Ah I see well I didn't do the flow test it was performed for me at a local shop I'm not sure what they did.

they did perform a valve job on it before they did the initial test so I guess technically it was't stock. I forgot about that.

Yes it's an H22 head and it's his first time touching a head. A pro could have gotten much more, but he's learning. Props for having the ***** to try ityourself man.

Gotta start somewhere. What type of flow bench?

Reflow it and I bet you don't see that drop at .200

I'd fair to venture a guess and say it was also a SF600 that they had it on. I saw it and I know it was a superflow bench so I could only assume it was a 600 I highly doubt it was a 1200.
