well, i bought some works and im just wondering, how often do people get there rims bent? The town i live in has some crappy roads. Any inputs on how to keep them from being damaged?
Well, there are two reasons why wheels get bent:
1. People hit road hazards (potholes, rocks and other debris, etc) at too high a speed. Often, this is because you just can't see them in time to avoid them, especially at night. Sometimes, people see them but just don't bother slowing down and trying to avoid them, not realizing the damage they will cause.
2. Today's big wheels and low-profile tires are more susceptible to damage, due to the shorter tire sidewall, which doesn't allow the tire's sidewall to take as much of the deflection from these hazards as smaller wheels with taller sidewalls. For example, you're a whole lot more likely to get bent wheels if you hit debris with those bling-bling 215/35 tires on 18" wheels than if you're using the stock size of 195/55 tires on 15" wheels.
