'02 CRV Rear Brake Issues???
Hello
my mom has a '02 crv with about 68K miles on it. she doesnt drive the car hard, but i have just finished changing her 3rd or 4th set of REAR brake pads (each time the pads were changed, i either installed new or resurfaced rotors). i understand that even with repeated use of brakes, you'd change the front pads before the rear.
has anyone had to repeadly change their rear pads often? after this last install, i think i found out what the problem may be. the bracket (dont know the name of it) that holds the pads in place, is too small or is too tight to fit the rear pads in the slot. because of this, the pads will have no room to move when you hit and release the brakes. so, the pads basically get stuck against the rotor and continually rub and wear out prematurely.
what i did was take a file to the rear pad's tabs (not the friction surface), filing off a little bit at a time until the pads are able to sit in the bracket without getting stuck.
sorry for the long winded post and any confusion i may have caused, but i just wanted to share.
