ctr pistons for ls vtec. need help
interested in stepping up my compression ratio for my ls vtec. i know im probably gonna have to use race fuel, but my concern is clearance issues. i have a b16 head with skunk stage 2 cams. is there going to be any clearance issues or can this be done succesfully? any info. will help. thanks
there are much better ways to up your compression, ie deck the head..or for that matter much safer and more effective piston choices.
what are you currently using?

all i want to know is if there is enough clearance to use the ctr pistons on a ls/vtec application. i know there are safer pistons out there. i have itr pistons right now, but i want to use ctr pistons and race fuel to make more power on the dyno.
then youll have to clay the motor.
no one will be able to tell you if the clearances that your motor has will be enough.

i ran pct / ctr pistons in my ls/vtec
used a A1 block and b16 head with a oem gasket and stage 1 SK2's i had no clearance issues .. granted thats not the same as your stage 2's but it's what little info i can offer

wish i had the same luck. i had the b1 block with ctr pistons and a type r head on blox cams. i cranked it drove it to the stop sign cut the signal on to make a right. boom. while sitting still..................

I think what i find most ignorant is the fact that the dome runs parallel to the valve face and posses no change in clearance. Its just an extension of an existing angle. The minor difference in compression height has no real significant change in valve to piston clearance on a stock unmilled head.
The next interesting fact is that the CTR piston is about 8-10% heavier than the ITR piston. Im sure the rod bolts will love that.

i found this post in the forced induction forum funny too.

Yeap, that's 99% of the problem. Most of these people with the ctr piston ls-vtec don't have them for more than a year.
