Springs, Comptech Sport – ¾ Inch Drop
http://www.comptechusa.com
Apparently these are the only springs out there that lower the Type R less than one inch. I might pick up a set for my car to use with the stock shocks for a while. The web site says ½ to ¾ of an inch but the guy at Comptech said that the drop is really ¾ of an inch.
When I asked him about who manufacturers them he said that their supplier is a nearby spring company who produces them in small batches (since the demand for them is not very large). He also said that the production tolerances are stricter than most springs since they are produced in limited numbers. I’m not sure how much credibility these statements carry.
Are any of you guys using these springs or know of someone who has them? It would be nice to get some first hand feedback about this product before I purchase them. I can handle a slightly bumpier ride but would rather maintain the current comfort level.
As well as the Type R handles now I wanted to reduce some body roll and take out a little fender gap at the same time. Would a 24 mm / 26 mm rear sway bar be more effective in reducing body roll than these springs?

I've seen an ITR with Comptech Springs and I think the drop is not even noticeable. I've also read from other owners that you don't notice the drop. I believe Gina (TypeR00Chick...not sure of exact H-T name) had them. You're probably not looking for an expensive setup for cosmetic purposes but for me, I would rather save up a little more and go with the Mugen Lowdowns.

Did they tell j00 what the rates were?
Also, j00 can ask any teg (RS/LS/GS/GSR) w/the comptech springs. The parts #s are the same for ITR and non ITR springs:

If you put on a shorter spring, the default angle the upper control arm is sitting at is going to change right? This will also play into the camber curve of the suspension wont it?
Ground Control is about a 10 minute drive from Comptech...Ground Control is the master distributor for Eibach on the West Coast...just an fyi...

My buddy here in Orlando(MikeSarrGSR on this board) has the Comptech springs on his 99GSR and they perfrorm great, he loves them, a bit more performance over the stock ITR, it should lower it about a half inch. I have eibach Pro-kit springs on my 99GSR and they perform almost identical, which makes sense as the spring rates and lowering amount are virtually identical. We both have the Comptech rear Sway/Tie Bar Combo on our cars as well. I have Koni yellows set on stock perch-height settings on all four corners, he currently only has front Koni yellows and has them on the lower perch(so his front is like a 1/4 inch lower than mine)
Spring Rates(ib/in) if I remember correctly: Both lower approx 1.25-1.5 on a GSR, so subtract the ITR lowering to get how much it will lower your car.

RR 180-240
Prokit

The only non-coilover springs I'd consider getting for the R are the kg/mm or the Spoon springs. All others are typical high rate front, low rate rear which = push. Keep stock until you can afford a real suspension IMO.

Well, I agree, I did not say that they would outperform an ITR, I love the way a stock ITR handles, out of the box it is unbeatable. I just wanted to inform him of the info that he inquired about so that he could make his own decision. That being said, the springs will lower his center of gravity(vehicle height obviously) a bit and he will have a good bit higher front spring rate, with a close rear spring rate so the car 'could' potentially handle better under different street situations(remember the rears are progressive and the initial rates once the load of the vehicle is applied/settled will be close to the same rate as the stock ITRs, just at the very edge of the limit with very significant weight transfer in the rear will the higher stock ITR rear spring rates come into play). Still, its his choice, remember I got these spring to improve my GSR's handling, so they significantly improved the handling from that platform. And if I were him, I would not choose these springs either because the ITR handles so well to begin with and either of these springs would not improve the handling very much, if any. If I were to get springs to improve the ITR handling(and lower it a bit more) then I would choose some with even higher spring rates, such as those you mentioned. Even still, I have talked to a few who have either Prokits or Comptech springs on their cars and they said that they did like they way it handled, it did feel a little better to them, and that they did like the slightly lower stance. Anyways, enjoy
Actually, the springs rates are:
Front: 335lbs
Rear: 135/210lbs [progressive rate]
The above are the rates I received when I e-mailed Comptech to inquire about the springs rates.
Here is a side view of my car [I know, it is now a good pic]

Ok, I was close, although I have talked to them quite a few times over the past couple years(about many different products), and everytime its seems as though I get a different quote(depending on the person) on the actual spring rates, I always hear 335 for the front, but the rear has gone anywhere from 125 up to (now)210, this is the first time I have heard 210 for the upper end of the rear spring rate, usually it hovers around 190, but its so close anyways, its all good, enjoy
Just buy a Ground Control kit and get 300lb springs all around. The oem ITR shocks will handle that rate fine, and you can adjust ride height accordingly. Plus, 300/300 will be great on the street and better than stock on the track.
Much better way to go IMO.

No, not exactly the same, similar specs, but NOT the same exact springs. They do give very similar performance, but Eibach's are made in Germany, Comptech's ARE made in Cali. Enjoy

Also, j00 can ask any teg (RS/LS/GS/GSR) w/the comptech springs. The parts #s are the same for ITR and non ITR springs:

...stock itr spring rates are about 240....
i'd go with eibach or H&R!!! ...360 each!
Did you ever look into the kg/mm springs???
