Default header fitment

On my 95 gsr I bought a dc 4-1 header it from a type r thought and I was not thinking when buying that the deck height would be different. I got it to fit but there is maybe half of an inch of space between the oil pan and header. Would it be safe to use it still or would it get theoil to hot? and would heat wrapping it help?

hows about a low temp t-stat, heat wrap lower portion of header, and an external oil cooler, running royal purple oil. i think that with that you will be more than fine.

the oil in the oilpan is already really hot. doubt you'd have issues if they weren't making contact.

you'll be fine...it's a 4-1 header so of course it'll run closer to the pan. its much larger than stock and the deck height between the two motors should be the same. and considering how hot the motor and the header gets with regular driving half an inch more or less is not gonna make a difference.

I had a dc sports 4-1 header for a 94-99 gsr that was touching the bottom of the oil pan. I don't think it was causing any overheating issues. When i uninstalled it the coating on the header had been eaten through where it was touching. Didn't look like there was any damage to the oil pan.

BTW, I would recommend using two 5/16 washers on the exhaust manifold bolts so you don't have to screw on the nuts too far. The oem exhaust manifold flange is thicker than the dc sports one. If you don't use washers, the nuts may pull out the studs if you ever remove the header.
