Default Velocity Stack dimensions?

I am curious to know what lengths you guys are making your velocity stack pipes. I understand that each motor will respond differently to different lengths, thats why before hand I have a few pieces ready to try out different setups. On it's way is some 3" pipe and a BPi velocity stack. The motors in question are some B16s. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

I thought is was long for built motors and shorter for mild motors? Can anyone clarify with their experiences

67 views... no one has a velocity stack on their cars, and no one has any questions themselves.

This is pretty basic but run a shorter stack for power higher in the rpm range. A long one will make more power lower in the rpm range, but lose to the shorter ones up top. You really need to test them back to back to know what benefits you more for the type of driving you are doing.

I planned on making a few different lengths. I just wanted to get a ballpark as to where I should start. I plan on dynoing each setup and figuring out which one works better. These are going to be used on daily drivers. Occasional track days. Thanks for the help. It looks like I am gonna make a longer one then.

Best way is to experiment and dyno test with each different set up. What works for someone else may not work for you.

Their is no set length that works best on every application. The longer the better is not always true either don't listen to him that is not written in stone. Probably like 5 years ago me and my co worker were messing around doing test with velocity stacks. We messed around and made a four foot stack sticking out the car, but the car lost power. I honestly don't remember were the car made the most power at. It was at like 3am at night and we just got a new dynopack so we were messing around with it and drinking.

23" seems to be about the norm on most street cars I have seen numbers on from friends. Mine gained 5 hp going from a 19" to a 23" and lost 3 going to 25". i also tuned it on the dyno though with sections of pipe, and then custom made one. My .02$
