I have a 91 honda crx and i just replaced the clutch but the clutch lever has inches of free play and the clutch adjuster will tighten all the way before any feel in the pedal. i replaced the clutch because of this problem and checked the cable for stretching but it doesnt help and ive run out of ideas. some help would be greatly appreciated!

 

did you replace the throw out bearing? if you did or you didnt did ya make sure the spring were set up behind it

 

I did. i replaced the whole clutch assembly. is there any way the clutch lever could rotate on its connecting rod? is that possible? i looked at my other crx and the lever is pointing down when adjusted while my current car's clutch lever is pointed slightly up.

 

sounds like your throw out bearing came off the release fork

 

that would make sense except the car will drive with the adjuster all the way up. thats whats so weird.
