Whats the latteral acceleration, braking, 0-60 and 1/4 mile for a SH?
I dont think they're very close to a ITR.

My wife had a '98 Prelude SH so I can give a REAL experience comparison. People are correct when the say the Type R wins in every category (performance wise). However, the Prelude isnt too far behind when it comes to driver communication and road feel. The Prelude SH is a great handling car but not as good as the ITR.
What the Prelude does have over the ITR is a different look, a nicer interior (although worse rear passenger accomodations), a better stock stereo, and..umm...the availability of diamond white pearl paint!
If you are into tons of engine mods, dont get the SH. Personally, if both cars cost about the same, I would go for the ITR 10/10 times. The SH is nice but the ITR is even nicer.

I agree... a friend and I test drove a SH once and he didn't like it... I was in the car too and didn't feel so much of a punch in VTEC... he agreed because he was driving... he was redlining that thing in every single gear and nothing exciting... he said that my 94 GS-R was stronger.... and now that I let him test drive my ITR (2 weeks ago)... he is obsessed with my car now.... Preludes are ok... ITRs are hands down...

Just compare 0-100-0 time - Type R: 24.4 sec VS Prelude 30.9 sec
That's not even close!

cool article, I'd never seen that before. I was wondering about that 15.1 second quarter mile. I thought it was generally agreed that a stock R was in the 14's. Oh well, that's probably the first one they ever drove.

Yeah, I dont know if the 97 were slower or what, but I saw another mag get a 2000 to do a 0-60 in 6.1 and 1/4 in 14.5 I believe.
Don't **** off the Prelude guys...again. lol. hehe.

Yeah, you're preaching to the choir. The Prelude is a nice machine, but doesn't yield the same performance as the ITR in all categories.

You have to consider the stock tires on each car too when looking at that review. The Prelude actually had the acceleration advantage until 2nd gear. Isn't the brake hardware almost identical on both cars? Of course the ITR does weigh around 450lbs. less so that's what gives it a big braking advantage.
I believe MotorTrend tested a 2000 or 2001 ITR and got 6.2 0-60 and high 14's in the 1/4.

Yea I've seen plenty of 14.6 1/4 times for the R in mags,I also saw in car&driver back in 94 and 95 listing the GSR getting a 15.1,so sometimes those times are a little off from reality, but close.
i think you would see better 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times in a base prelude ...its lighter ..and same power
In any case, stock tires on the Prelude suck. Put ITR tires on the Prelude and it will probably handle very similarly to the R on long sweepers (its heft will hurt it at an autox, still).
Dont forget the Prelude was named best handling car under $30000 (Type R was not included in the competition).
Base Prelude typically clock in high 6.x for 0-60 and low 15's for 1/4 mile. Base model weighs 300lbs more than an ITR and I think the SH around 80lbs more than the base.
They are fairly neutral handling cars for FWD. Not as tail happy as the ITR though. The front sway bar on a 5th Gen Prelude is only about 2mm larger than the rear just like an ITR. Civics and other Integra's have much smaller rear sway bars compared to an ITR or Prelude.

No offense to you ITR guys, but quit comparing the 5th gen Preludes to your cars. Even we (Prelude guys) know that you'll kick their butts, but when you start comparing the 4th gen VTEC cars then you can talk a little louder.
Either way... they are both great FWD cars.

The R gets like a .94G turn.
