DH-Racing Head PICS
Here are some pics of my Dh-Racing head, yes I know he's not popular on many message boards. Here is the head he ported for me.........F23 matched to H23 runners

any flow numbers?</TD></TR></TABLE>it's not a carbide finish the head is sanded, looks like 40 or 60 grit.Hope it wasn't too expensive considering the guides are cut away to save time and the chamber doesn't look touched.

Maybe it just me but I hate to see the guides cut away on a street car. Race cars no problem, rebuilds are part of the course.

i'm definitely concerned with what I'm hearing. i've contacted dave and he doesn't seem to believe what's being said. he really strongly believes its good work and even asked me after i recieved it what i thought of it. could it be the larger h23 port match makes the chambers look unworked? just checking. this is a scary situation to be in for sure. this was not cheap at all.

im not too sure why he re-used those guides to begin with...every NA set up should employ bronze guides in my opinion the work you were given has very poor craftsmanship...
New guides installed if your worried about it. Any machine shop can perform the work for you
Its very common many head porters in the honda world cut down guides. I have seen jg,gude, portflow, dpr heads all with guides cut flush with port
Now do they do it to every head no, since I already know someone is going to post so and so's head didnt have the guides cut down

of course the head is salvageable just make sure your machinist does not mess up the valve install height, guide height and maintains good seat 2 valve face concentricity...
did you get a full p&p or a gasket match. if its a gasket match,i dont see why he thinned the divider so much,if its a p&p he didnt even touch the throut and the bowls.
bronze valve guides are a good investment to protect a good valve job. my head was off a 00si and still had some guides that were loose. i dont see why a good porter would want to risk damaging the valve job by using old guides

Most do is just the way of business just like most machine shops recommend alot of things to do to make a motor perfect but most people wont do everything they will do bare minimum to make things work and hope for the best.
Trust me call any well known head porter and they will gladly port your head without replacing 20 year old guides. Its one of the you better ask kind of things has time isnt free neither are guides.

again, this was matched to h23 runners the stock f23 was 1inch circle the h23 were 1.5 in ovals wouldn't that cause the ports to look goofy?
Well could it seal its very possible it will. Anyone who has ported intake manifolds to very large throttle bodies knows you have alot less material at the iacv port than that is shown in that picture
For example:70mm throttle body on a stock b series manifold will have almost no material left just enough. I have yet to see one leak.

if you open this picture up on the picture viewer and then zoom in on it, look around the valves.
Id send that thing back and tell him to give you your money back.

There's a reason dave hickman is hated.. your own damn fault for not searching DHracing or Dave hickman.. he's screwed up heads, and screwed people out of money so many times.. and btw, he wont return your money so dont even try.. I'd suggest try some honda bond on your intake manifold gasket, and just hope for the best, if not.. your [freak]ed.

Also, that guide looks like it broke and not just ground flush.</TD></TR></TABLE>
exactly what I am getting at. I see 3 cracks.

I don't see how porting would crack the casting unless he was running into the water jacket...... but grinding around a broken valve guide and passing it off as "good" is a [freak]ing joke.
