Default weird overheating issue

So i did do a search and was able to find helpful information that i'm going to check out. But i want to see what you guys think of this issue. I've been going from Miami to Orlando all summer long. Now to the issue.

The past three trips have not gone so well. Each trip, 1-2 hours in the journey, car starts to overheat very slowly. By the way, its completely stock. When it get to 3/4 i decide to stop and wait about 10-15 minutes. Check the fluid, everything is fine, continue with the trip and its smooth sailing. Does not over heat again. Except for this last trip that it started overheating 1 1/2 hours into the trip. had to stop 3-4 more times also. All fluids fine, fans working when i'm pulled over. Check fluids, everything is good. When i started driving the last time and saw it overheating again. just rolled the windows down some more and put the heater on full blast. The temp stayed just lower than half. Managed to get home after that. The water pump less than a year old, new thermostat as of May (don't ask why i still have one, going to remove it and see if that's the issue), coolants at the right level, did a good rad. flush in may also.

Any ideas? Maybe i'm missing something.

if you are having problems like that and cant not find it ..but need to drive.. you can pull the thermostat... but if its cold there... you wont get any heat and your car will always run cold.....

but please dont use that as a perminant fix... its just a temp fix till you can figure it out... have you bled the lines? maby it could be an air lock?

how old is your radiator? might be partialy plugged... have you tried replacing the coolant temp unit with a good one and seeing what happens?

my other suggestion would be to go to a rad place and have your full system flushed out ... i had that problem before and it cured mine..plus gave me some warmer heat for the winter ...

like he said you could have a somewhat clogged rad or line a flush would fix that

i'll give it a flush tomorrow and remove the thermostat... I stay in south florida, the coldest it ever gets is 75 :-)... except on rare days that a good cold front makes it down... if you have anything else i should look at let me know... thanks

hey,, was there any luck of that overheating problem...?

forgot to ask is your fan kicking on..? or is it staying on long enough...
my car had that problem and it wouldent overheat when i would drive...but as soon the the air flow stopped ... it would over heat and shut down.. just be careful you can fry your engine from over heating

sounds like the same problem i had. I blew the head gasket. Mine took a long time to overheat and the heater trick worked for a while but then it pegged. Try cracking the coolant bleeder valve and see how much air comes out. just a little bit then it should flow out. If the gasket is bad then it will continue to flow air.

sounds like a partially plugged radiator they will still flush. Remove the lower hose and poor water down the radiator if it takes more than a few seconds its plugged water should flow through right away .

what's up guys. thanks for checking back in. i removed the t-stat and still had the same issue... going to replace the radiator today or tomorrow. I think that should do the trick... it was pretty funny... it half of my drive today. So for the first half i was watching the temp gauge go up and i had to stop a bit and continue.... when i encountered the rain... temp gauge stayed normal the whole ride (maybe cause i was going at a slower speed also)...

another update:

Replaced the radiator and upper and lower hoses. did a search on how to do it and found this thread : https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1582945

helped tremendously. The radiator i got was from autozone and the driver's side fan had a little issue with a clip. I just bent it out a little and fit right in. I'm still running with no thermostat though. But the car is running normal again, thank god. i'll be heading to miami this weekend so we'll see how it turns out. Gave it a test drive around though and it went smoothly.

The radiator that was in.... sigh... i'm going to take a picture of the inside and post it soon... definitly don't want to see yours like that... Thanks to everyone that responded... I'll be posting the pic soon...
