6th gen h22 NA or FI???
first things first i have a 98 accord lx 4 door that I swapped an H22 into last december... and it's fun n all I just want to build it up and Im not really which route to go...
I like all motor apps because it looks more impressive when you get baller quarter mile times than with a turbo...
I like turbo apps because the sky is the limit on power with them...
my goal is to run a 12.5 or better in the quarter mile time... but I want to keep my interior and ac and power steering.. it is my daily driver. I just like cars that look good along with them being fast... I just dont really know what to do??
I know h series bottom ends arent the best with the frm sleeves and the ringlands being trouble... but I was reading a thread about some mahle pistons that are pretty good for turbo apps and you can run up to 15lbs of boost with out sleeving the block...
but if I went high compression I would probably have to sleeve the block or get an f series block.
what are your opinions?
[edit]
also does the f20b have frm sleeves? or is it like the rest of the f series? could I boost or build up an f20b better?

no opinions? I've been searching I just wanna hear some opinions of ppl with pretty quick daily drivers... I want sumthin reliable but quick... I would like to keep all of my luxuries(sp?) like power steering, ac, and my interior. but I wanna run 12.5 or better... I just dont know what path to take? I'm starting to lean more towards a turbo but I just like all motor better. to me it looks better but I dont think it is achieveable by keeping my interior,ac, and ps.
ah a fellow missourian!
you will be able to keep all either route.
go turbo or nitrous!
If you go all motor you will need to remove the cat ( which wont pass a state inspection) , and run race gas all the time, saying you will go above 10.5:1 compression.
the ac is a possible problem with turboed cars due to the high temp. of the turbo under the hood which will be close to your AC lines.
personally i would get some forged pistons n rods, some cams, good clutch n flywheel,LSD, walbro fuel pump with an upgraded fuel and ignition system, and a 100-150 shot of spray. that way its strong daily, and a monster at the track.

I doubt you're going to get 12's with full interior with an all motor H22 in an Accord.
There's a thread for all motor 13? second Preludes in their section and most post their builds, read that.

that's what I thought... it's kind of a bummer to hear but that's ok... I guess if I wanted an interior I should've gotten I mjuch lighter car... my car's kinda on the chunky side lol.
do you know if the f20b has frm sleeves in them like the h22?? on the note of boost... if f series blocks can hold up to like 10lbs, i think i read, of boost... could I just use my old f series block and make a g series and run 10lbs of boost with a stock block? I'd much rather rock an f20b though if it doesnt have frm sleeves...

The stock H22A can hold some good whp if the setup and the TUNE is done 100% correctly. I made like 300Whp on my stock block H22A at about 8 PSI and the car is insane (waiting on tractions bars and upgraded suspension since it spins in all gears now
). I am very happy with it. Oh btw, I see you are in MO - I had my car tuned by John at Lowe Performance in Alton, IL which is not too far from you and I highly recommend them - these guys know their stuff!
Not to forget, there are quite a few guys on here making way over 300 whp on their stock H22 as well. It's all in the tune, your setup and what kinda risk you are willing to take hehe

Remember that 10 PSI on different size turbos would be different since the CFMs change (air flow). You would want to go by what the max Hp the block would hold instead of the PSI...

thanx man... how long have you been with your set up??? is everything running smoothly??
Im kinda new to turbos since I've been for NA cars for so long... lol so it's kinda all new to me but I'm learning quite a bit...
you made 300whp though on a stock h22? I have an h22a4 should I go find an h22a block? Does the closed deck really help out that much?? or could I get like a block guard for mine and be fine?

- Yeah and there are some on here that been running for years with OVER 300whp! On a stock block it's the ringlands that are weak and not the block - FRM (like the H22 and S2000) blocks are very strong. You should be fine with the H22A4 block though.
Oh and the car has been running just great so far with zero issues just traction issues which I am working on currently...

LOL, yeah just makes me wonder about those guys with like 400 - 700whp
- The wheel spin and hop sucks really because you have to like "baby" it if you want to get into boost suddenly and even then it just might do it anyways lol. After reading on here, I discovered that I was not the only one with this issue and the cure for it considering my setup and car is : front traction bars (Spoolin / ETD), good shocks (Tokico/Koni/KYB), and some good front tires (my choice is the Azenis RT615).
Anyway, it all depends on your budget and stuff as well. BTW, I pm'ed ya something you would like to see
