OKAY SO THIS HOW IT ALL GOES.. I HAVE A 1991 EF HATCH. . THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WEN I BOUGHT IT. SOME OLD GUY SOLD IT 4 CHEAP SO I THOUGHT WTH ILL BUY IT CUZ THERE FUKIN BAD AZZ!.. I NOTICED AS SOON AS I STARTED HER UP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SO I TOOK IT IN 2 C WAT WAS UP. MECHANIC RAN A DIAGNOSTIC N TOLD ME THT THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS OUT WHICH WAS CAUSIN THE CAR TO TOP OUT AT 50MPH N I NOTICED IT WOULD HEAT UP ALL THE WAY TO THE REDLINE AFTER 8 MINS OF DRIVIN THE DAM THING. SO I HAD THT ALL CHANGED. THINKIN THT IT WAS ALL GOOD N SAFE 2 DRIVE, I HOPED ON THE FREEWAY TO HEAD UP 2 MESA AZ THE NEXT DAY AFTER IT WAS OUT THE SHOP N 5MIN DOWN THE ROAD THE DAM TEMPATURE GAUGE SHOT ALL THE WAY UP 2 THE REDLINE. SO I PULLED OVER. TOWED IT HOME. I FIGURED THE OIL WAS BAD. CHANGED THT OUT ASAP. DRAINED THE RADIATOR N PUT A NEW BOTTLE IN. I WAS ASSUMIN THT MAY HAV BEEN DA PROB BUT IT STILL CONT TO OVER HEAT. BOUGHT SUM RADIATOR SEALENT THINKIN IT WAS THE RADIATOR N CHANGED OUT THE THERMASTAT BUT IT STILL KEEPS OVERHEATIN.. IT'LL DRIVE GOOD THEN ABOUT 10 MIN AFTER IT'LL OVER HEAT TO HELL! N ITS DRIVIN ME KRAZy!.. IV HEARD IT COULD B THE HEADGASKET MAYBE??.. N I WAS WONDERIN IF ITD B CHEAPER JUS TO BUY A NEW HEAD OR SHOULD I TAKE OUT ALL THT SHYT N TAKE IT IN TO GET RESURFACED N BUY A NEW HEADGASKET?? NEED HELP BADLY SO ID REALLY APPREICATE ANY FEED BAK!.. ARITE LATERS N TAKE CARE
you would be puffin out white smoke and have oil in your anti freeze if it were a head gasket. are you losing coolant first off? is your rad fan turning on? was it a new thermostat you replaced it with?(not one form a friends junk pile or the auto wrecker) is there anything blocking your rad. hose's? check simple things like that first and get back to us.

nope no signs of white smoke but I did remember seein water comin out the exhaust tip once. n everytime it over heats the coolant shoots right out. n I even went as far as to riggin up the ac fan to stay on to add a lil aid 4 coolin it down. n tht didn't help either.. the car runs great tho. all the power is there. its a d15 by the way. stock engine. this is the 4th ef tht I hav bought so I kno how it shld run but the prob is I never had any probs like this one b4 so I'm stuck guessin n shyt. my previous ef9 had a b16 but got stolen a couple months baq. well anyways I bought the most expensive thermastat tht autozone had. no signs of the radiator or radiator hoses being cracked either. I spent all afternoon yestaday sprayin it down wit a spray bottle to check 4 any possibe leaks It might have but no signs of any leak or smoke. I recently asked a head mechanic out here in casa grande n he tld me most likely it could b the head gasket? but I'm stuck n it sux. n anotha ques? wld it b cheaper to jus buy a new d15 head or to take it in to hav the gasket replaced??
easy to remove the head. tak the head assembly apart, take off your exhaust manifold but keep the intake mani on ( make sure everything is disconnected and labeled if you dont know exactly what is what ) and peel the head off if you have check all other options.

oh ok. but id hav to mill the head again to thou rite? cuz i read a couple forums online who had busted there headgaskets also n they got replies sayin tht they'd have to resurface the head or mill it out, is tht tru? so r u mechanic urself?.. well if u are, how much wld u charge to replace all of it? jus a question.. well hit me bak up tho.. later.. n thnx for all the info mayne i appreciate it
just get the head resurfaced even if its not out because while its off, its a cheap and good thing to do. head gaskets range in price depending on what name you want. get a fel-pro because they are cheap and reliable. if i were you i would just take the head off myself( buy a helms book or pull something off the net for refrence's incase you get stuck ) and then peel everything off the head and take it to a machine shop and they will clean it and resurface it. its cheap. I would normally charge *friends* 60$ + matterial to change a head gasket
