Default someone please confirm this for me...

Vehicle: 98 GSR

Header: JDM ITR 4-1

Cat: Modified omnipower adjustable with 4.5" extension welded in

Cat-Back: USDM 01 ITR

Situation: I'm unhappy with the sound of my exhaust, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the lack of resonators in my setup. If I remember correctly, the USDM ITR cat-back doesn't have any resonators in it, and obviously my straight-through test pipe doesn't either.

So, I went on a quest to find a resonated test pipe with a 2.5" inlet to fit my JDM ITR header. I found the PWJDM one that is adjustable from 14.5"-19.5" but it is no longer in production.. but i think this guy will do the trick.

http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc...=3528

based on what i'm reading, it will... 2.5" inlet, resonator. with my JDM ITR header and ITR cat back, this test pipe *made for* a 97-01 ITR will be the correct length, correct? i just need someone to confirm my logic here.

Thanks in advance.

hm, well, my exhaust sounds raspy from inside the cabin. i assumed that it was due to the test pipe and couldn't recall if the stock ITR b pipe had a resonator in it or not.

anyone with a similar setup having a similar sound? maybe i've got a leak.

test pipe could have somthing to do with it, or you could also have a leak, its probally the testpipe

is all you have done to your motor is a jdm 4-1 and itr exhaust?

if so just buy a stock jdm type r cat, people make pretty good power with that setup and its super quiet and sounds good , no rasp

Pretty sure the ITR B pipe has a second, smaller resonator closer to the axle back portion as well.

the T1R test pipe will work, you will need the USDM lenght. but i am not sure if that will solve the raspy exhaust.
and if you have a secondary O2 sensor, you will have to well a bung on either the new test pipe (T1R) or on the exhaust pipe.

or if you are missing the resonator all together, you can get an after market one.

the only mods are AEM intake, jdm 4-1 header, test pipe, and ITR exhaust.

if i remember correctly, my buddy that did the welding welded the two extension pieces together, and then welded them to the test pipe, but i think he missed the two places closer to the flanges. it felt pretty solid before i put it back in place, though.

i was thinking about just paying the $160 for a custom hi-flow cat from kteller, but i'm afraid that the *hi-flow* won't be restrictive enough to fix my problem.. which is why i was hoping to go with a resonated test pipe. i got an emissions extension for 2 years last week cause my car was too low. w00t.

To my knowledge you'll have to find a T1R TP used if you want one. I believe in am correct in saying that they have been discontinued.

it appears that JHP has them in stock, but i've had issues with their site being inaccurate in the past.

why would i need the USDM length one if i have a JDM header?

4-1 JDM header - Omnipower JDM test pipe - ITR like mid pipe - Apexi WS2 exhaust
I also have the raspy sound, so I need to quiet it a bit.

Would a resonated test pipe with a 2.5inlet and 2.25 outlet do the work ?
It's hard to find the T1R, is there any knockoff out there ?
