E-Vtec Head on DX Block ??? Need Help
I currently have a d15b7 motor. My head went bad, its leaking all around so i decided instead of trying to fix it just get another one as its cheaper. However, i got a 1.5 e-vtec head for free.
Question is: Could i put my dx intake manifold in this e-vtec head ? i heard that i am supposed to only put a vx or cx intake manifold because the holes on this head are smaller.
And ... Would this head work fine with my ex wiring harness ? I got a dx ecu so i need this ex or dx wiring harness so i don't get check engine codes because of the o2 sensor. Would this work with my current harness ?
What are the cons and pros of this minime ? PS. I dont need vtec to open or nothing i just need it to not leak so i could drive it to work.
Thanks in advance.

D15Z1 head is going to yeild ridiculously high compression. You'd need to run at least '91 octane at all times. even at that it still might be too high. Someone had talked about this before a few months ago, I don't remember if he ever tried it or got it it to work. If you are going to put a head on i'd say find a D15B7 head.

Z1's combustion chamber = 25.3 CCs
B7's combustion chamber = 38.0 CCs
you'd be around 12.5:1 compression and a really poorly flowing head. (for power)

Well, i actually just need the car to move me around, to go to my work and back. So i was wondering. Is this high compression going to be a problem ? like, i dont mind putting 93 everytime i pump gas, i just dont want the motor to mess up, i wont be beating on it neither. got a new act clutch and im on breaking in period getting it ready for the next motor and turbo on the summer but darn, i need to work and i need this car on the road so i could work.
Plus... would an ex wiring harness fit right on with no problems ? i don't need vtec. i just need the car to run. i'm talking about check engines and such.

12.5:1 would be in serious need of really good tuning. You should be able to get by on pump gas(93), but it will have odd problems. The walls of the Z1 head are thinner than most other honda heads, this may cause problems with the increase in compression.
Personally I love the VX, but what you're thinking of doing is going to be a headache.
