Well, a couple weeks ago somebody decided to start backing up before looking in their mirror, which resulted in him hitting me. My hood was damaged, and needs replacing. The bumper and grill are in good condition, may just need to be repainted.
I am hoping insurance will send me a check to get it fixed, that way I can buy the parts, and pocket the rest of the money and make a couple hundred.
Was planning on just getting a new hood, bumper, and grill.
The only major problem, besides the hood being deformed, is that the bumper was pushed back. You can see how far out the light sticks out.



So, I took off my grill, and found two metal pieces shaped like upside down "L"s which held the bumper cover on. I noticed that on the side that was pushed in, this L was bent down, so the screw that held the bumper cover on pulled it, making it look like it is pushed in. Pics if you dont understand what I am saying.

Will I be safe to just take a hammer to that piece and tap it up back to its original position so the bumper will sit right again? Also want to make sure there isnt other damage that could have possibly happened.

If their insurance covers it, go get that frame aligned, make them fix it back to the original condition

 

I am pretty sure insurance is paying for it, but my stepdad said they might just send me a check and get it fixed myself, since it is an older car, and if that is the case, I will buy the parts seperate and fix it myself and pocket the couple hundred extra I have.

 

If the rad support is bent at all you won't be able to get everything to fit flush. The front end will look like crap

 

That is what I am asking about.
Would I be able to just take a hammer and tap it back to where it should be?
Otherwise I could just get a new radiator support and still save alot of money.

 

What is that specific part called? That piece that is bent.
