sorry I saw no one answered him...and he said he was getting a B20 soon (not when the turbo was going in) So I wanted to give him an idea.
Stock B20..in a '94 teg... Intake/Exhaust/FPR....Stock clutch...crappy tires on 16-inch konig's, still has ps and ac and backseats.... Ran 16.3, 16.5, then 16.1....The block was rebuilt by me with fresh internals...2 year old stock clutch...I cant seem to get my car into the 15's......The funny thing is my b20 feels a lot stronger than my ls....but when I had my ls, I ran a 15.6 with just exhaust and a filter... I dont know why... I am starting to think the block is cursed...Turbo is going on in less than two weeks...If I dont get this car into the mid 12's with 11lbs of boost on a t3/t4...and an action clutch and hondata...I am selling it... It is really getting on my nerves... I street race cars that have run low 15's and beat them but on the track this motor just sucks...
b20b
9.2:1 CR (je pistons)
eagle rod,
stock b20 headers,
skunk2 intake manifold,
cold air intake AEM,
gsr head,
v-afc (now sold because i will use the EMS)
in a full integra gsr street tire,
my best was 14.25@99mph with cold temperature...
when it's hot, with good traction i'm doing 14.4-14.5@97-98mph
oh sorry didn't see it was "non-vtec" ...anyway, it give you an idea with a b20/vtec

my friends car:
1995 civic coupe w/ full interior and baby seat
b20b stock block
b20b head w/springs and retainers
ls obd 1 ecu w/ 8500 rev limit
inlinepro exhaust manifold
inlinepro sheetmetal intake manifold
440 injectors
greddy frontmount intercooler
greddy type s blow off valve
tial 40mm wastegate
turbonetics t3/4 turbo
hybrid tranny
quaiffe
clutchmasters stage 4 clutch
afc/fmu
first day at the track it went 117mph still tuning it. it goes to the dyno in about a week.
117mph is good enough for high 11's in this car.

and turbo it later on, so my question is which tranny do you guys use?
LS tranny if you are going turbo
GSR Tranny w\ Boost.
Suprdave
LS tranny has longer gears and helps you stay in boost longer.... GSr has shorter gears and will not keep you in boost long enough
LS tranny for a LS engine
GS-R tranny for a VTEC engine
Excpections:
#1) GS-R tranny on an LS engine:
A properly built LS engine that is capable of turning a higher than stock redline, say 8000 RPM? That way the gearin'g isn't so horribly short for 4th and 5th, and ecspecially on the highway. A VTEC tranny on a stock LS redline tops out MPH-wise some in the neightboor hood of 110~117 depending on tranny.
--- No i'm not talking our of may ***. I had a JDM S1 tranny(1st gen B16 = ITR gearing) on my boost LS for about a month. Trying to race and smoking 1~3 at only 6 PSI and then topping out at 110 MPH is no fun, and I hated the highway revs. ---
#2) LS tranny on a VTEC engine:
This only work better than your stock tranny is you're making close to 400HP. The longer gearing on the LS will most definately kill a B16 without enough HP. On a GS-R it's a toss up, higher top speed or faster acceleration. With the lower amount of power I'd opt for faster acceleration.

so basically if your running a high revving vtec engine that is pushing over 400whp you might want the ls tranny or maybe the gsr even.
but for lower whp the b16 is better.

However, if your power is lacking on your high revving VTEC engine then you'll prolly want to stick with your GS-R or Si tranny. I don't really like to use the short geared trannies on LS engines....that personal preference tho, if you're a built LS turn 8K or so it's up to you.

Why use the LS. Please educate me......

Actually a custom one would be better. Im thinking of someday throwing in ITR 3rd and 4th and an LS 5th.
