Default Theft/Vandalism for ITR's

I'm strongly leaning toward buying my cousin's 98 CW ITR but the first thing everyone tells me "theft and vanadalism". How bad is the theft/vandalism situation with ITR's? My cousin has never had any problem, but I was curious if anyone knows and also anyone in the NYC area if they could let me know what they've experianced in terms of theft or vandalism around here. Thanks

Depends on ur location and where u park it. Security systems only prevent beginner thieves. If professional want it, its gone.. location is everthing.

ahhhh see car theft is low around me but that doesnt mean its going to be low in places I drive to haha. I think it would be worth the risk, but then again I got WAYYY too attached to my cars.

yep, pretty much the theft situation matters to the location..i got a friend wid a ITR..and the location where hes at..which is in LA..but not deep into LA..the more urban life but neighborhoods..and 2 times theyve tried to jack him..and hes got a delta alarm/auto ignition system on it..which is very good..ne one gets near his car..it beeps the hell outta the remote that steys wid u..and he ran out and saw some guyz trying to get into his car..luckily..for the alarm..his car was saved 2 times..but yea..when u get an ITR..the responsibility on it is pretty high..specially since the parts on it could be sold for some expensive prices..other den dat..i suggest u get some pretty expensive and well known alarms..theyll prevent it..

If you do get it, don't go home with out checking to see if someone's following you. Keep it in a garage. Get a sick alarm, and never let it leave your site when you're out. Malls are a no no, along with theaters as well.

Only one question......Do you have a garage (the best is indoor garage)?
You really need to have a garage to safe park your car. I believe most car (not just ITR) were stolen from home (2nd is from work) at midnight

beside garage, you also need to keep your car in low-profile....!!

That's NOT ture......IMO, thieve is everywhere (every big city in the world).....if you owned such a (target) car like ITR in NY, LA...etc you need to know what kinds of risk you may involved.....and then "adjust" your daily life to lower the risk. (for example, you don't goto movie, mall or park your car on the side street)
and of course, indoor garage is almost for certain.
