okay so i went to the store today my 89 hatch was running fine. and i come out and it would only crank. i checked spark and got shocked so i know it had spark. so i pulled the clamp off the input line of the fuel pump and it wasnt pumping.... i went and i went and disconnected the battery fopr a minute and then checked to see if the fuel pump was pumping and it started pumping.....i connected the hose and it started right up. why does it work after i dissconect the battery? anybody know what it could be?

 

your main relay maybe going out.
