Hey guys i'm trying to help my friend get his civic back on the road. He was about to leave his house the other day and didnt have any pressure on the clutch, we both thought it was the cmc but we've replaced that and tried to bleed it but its not creating any pressure (pedal basically pops down to the floor if you move it down). Do you have to bench bleed a cmc like a bmc ? any help would be appreciated TIA

Did you check the slave cylinder and the line? its pretty rare for the master cylinder to go bad on a honda, slave cylinders commonly fail though.

 

The cmc was leaking (onto the floorboard) thats why we originally thought thats what it was. We inspected the slave cylinder and it wasnt leaking.

 

how long did you bleed the clutch for? It takes a good 45 minutes or more and for almost all of that you wont feel anything.

So when i'm trying to build up pressure should the clutch pedal feel as if theres nothing there at all ?

Yeah, pretty much. The first time I did one I was to a point where i was sure either my master cylinder or slave cylinder was bad, but no it just takes forever. The only other time I had to bleed a civic clutch it was exactly the same, took almost an hour. Just keep pumping, get an assistant while your at it cause your arm will probably get tired

Alright we replaced the cmc a couple days ago and now the clutch has no grab to it as if the clutch is totally fried. The clutch felt fine before changing the cmc, is it possible there is air still in the line that is causing this ?
