Default How to measure milled head?

When doing the s2s2 head build on my car my dad took the casting to a friend who worked at a machine shop for a mill and hot tank. Now I'm swapping the head onto a different motor and I'd like to know how much was milled, the only problem is that my dad doesn't know how much was taken off at the machine shop. Is there a place on the head that I could take a micrometer measurement to figure it out?

yes you can measure the distance from the valve cover rail to the deck and compare that to what stock is according to a helm's manual.

YES. There's an indicator on the bottom surface of the head. It looks like a C. In stock configuration, I believe the depth is 1mm.
