red civic in tennessee
this is my car
its ok, but i really like air conditioning, so that is one thing i really wish i had for this car. i got this car last summer, in 2007. im not really one of those people that buys a car, keeps it for like 20 minutes or a month or something, and then is ready to trade or sell. im in it for the long haul.
my mom still has a 1991 isuzu trooper that they bought brand new, and i guess the reason i got into hondas was the famed longevity. i like having a car, and not being worried about something randomly breaking. things will break, but i am talking about those vehicles that have catastrophic failure. so, i would like to keep this one for a while, but summers are crucial. the car i had before this had super ice cold a/c, and i think i then became spoiled with the luxury of being cool in the hot summers of tn.
well now i am considering trading, but im not sure. this car is my dd, it is registered and insured. it starts up every time, never gives me any problems, and is a definite head turner. i love driving it, and it is really easy to drive a rhd. it seems alot safer. i feel like i see more and can make better decisions as far as depth of field and judging how close i am to things.
pictures:

this is how it looks today, except for the last one with the fat fives. that was last summer.
i havent really done much to the exterior or the interior. i did take apart the parking pole and get it to work, then subsequently broke it. im dumb. i am fairly certain the front end is jdm, but i could be wrong. im sure someone will be kind enough to correct me. i replaced the windshield as soon as i got the car. it was really haggard. i could separate the windshield from the car. it was not bracketed onto the car. i felt safe, but i think i was the only one that knew about the janky windshield.
i did spend a bunch of money on the car though.
the first thing i did was replace the brakes. i went with ebc greenstuff pads and brembro blanks. the car stops on a dime.
then, i replaced the fuel filter, the timing belt and added brand new hasport motormounts. i was having idle surge issues, and after finding a vacuum leak and cleaning the iacv with no results, i order an oem honda timing belt, water pump, and belt tensioner.
well that didnt work. so i had an ls/vtec laying around and decided to install that.
here are some pics.

well, when i took off the transmission. i noticed the clutch should probably be replaced. so i order an ACT six puck sprung disk and used a heavy duty pressure plate and a freshly resurfaced flywheel with some honda mtf to make shifting smooth.
well, the ls/vtec was having the same issues so we replaced the headgasket and i bought some brand new arp headstuds. it still was not right, so we took it out and put the b16 back in. this time we took the skunk2 manifold and tried that on the b16.
there was a blox manifold on, and tired of messing with it, i hoped the skunk2 with working sensors and valves would solve the problem. we also threw on a hondata img for good measure.
well, it helped the problem, but i was having some high reving in neutral. i realized the throttle cable needed some adjusting, and there hasnt been an issue since. recently i picked up a chipped p28 with two step and a rev light. i also secured a vfac2 and a one inch thick aluminum half radiator. i also changed the battery to a optima yellow top and threw on a really small air filter from autozone(it was free and bnib).
i am really proud of the work i have put into this car. this is really my first car that i have spent alot of time working on. also, it has made me realize the importance of quality parts and work.

LOL. Why the hell would the fact that it's RHD potentially make it any less crappy (not my opinion) than if it were LHD? What is it with HT's "ZOMG it's teh RHD y0!"obsession?
Unless you're talking about owning a vehicle that isn't available in LHD, driving RHD car in a LHD country is a stupid idea, full stop. You don't see people in RHD countries importing domestic versions of LHD cars or chopping off front clips just because that's the car's country of origin.
OP, sounds like you've put a lot of effort in, even if the way you've gone about some of it is a little unorthodox. I say stick with it.

yeah, sometimes i am not too pleased with the car, because i have never really had a car that needed to be super clean and now it seems that someone who doesnt even own the car has something to complain about. dont you think i see all the imperfections. but its my daily driver and i am an unemployed college student, so i just work on it little by little.
like katt williams said about haters, "dont you worry about it, raggedy b!tch, figure out how to get the duct tape off your taillight"

thanks bro, i actually got the car on a whim. i drove like 300 miles to pick up the car and i just wanted to say i have owned a RHD before i get too old to really care. i dont really care about the people that have negativity issues because their parents dont give them enough attention, but i do accept constructive criticism, good and bad.

Looks to be just a RHD firewall and dash. Headlights, fenders are USDM.
Props if you done up the motor yourself.
People hate because of the items you choose for the car. Like the ebay lip or the wheels on it currently. I would personally rather roll on fat fives till one day you can afford some wheels. It just needs a lot cleaning up. Atleast you have the ***** to post it as is.
I know how you feel being a student, it's stressful. Keep it up and it will payoff later on.

well, well. leave it to a dunce from tennessee with a jdm stick up his usdm butt to miss the humor in satire. of course you dont know what jdm no powersteering is! you are an idiot too stupid to realize i am making fun of all the tools who live and breath jdm air to make themselves feel better. its a joke. do you understand now?
btw... i thought i have a jdm frontend because the parking pole is on the left side and i thought it might be a bit much for someone to drill a hole into the bumper when they probably had the entire front clip at the time the conversion was done, but had you read the entire post(all 14 sentences), you might have caught this one:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by shrekchop »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i am fairly certain the front end is jdm, but i could be wrong. im sure someone will be kind enough to correct me.</TD></TR></TABLE>
but, alas, as you have already proven yourself a moron with the first part of your reply, i am not disappointed you overlooked it.
i know the car needs a lot of work, and i have asked some people for help and i am working on it. if you would like to help speed up this process, via any financial support or constructive criticism, feel free to post.
otherwise, save yourself the trouble of establishing the obvious.
i dont understand why my car isnt as cool as yours when they probably need just as much work. is it because i actually get to drive my car and your car is sitting? are you mad at me? i dont have a garage, i dont have any money, i dont know how to paint, i dont have anything to paint with even if i figured out how to paint.
What is your problem?
is it because my title says, "show car quality red civic in tennessee." no, its not, because i never made such a statement about the car, nor do i deem it satisfactorily completed.
hopefully you do not take what i have said about you personally as i have not taken your comments personally. i am merely venting my frustration with people who probably have good advice and valuable experience yet waste their time and energy with negativity.

Just so you know...there really isn't a jdm eg front end since they are identical to usdm fronts. I suggest a real lip since the knock off fit like doo doo...and some different wheels. Try not to get do defensive on this site or they will eat you alive..if you shrug off the negative comments most people give up
And yes I do like being an ******* sometimes hahahha
btw just noticed your boostedis sticker so
for rocking that...I was hangin out with him just 30 minutes before he left the dyno day and had that wreck

If this where in my hands I would buy a fender moulding, stock air box and shift ****. Give all the mouldings a fresh coat and spend the weekend removing seats, vacuuming and washing the whole carpet. Then sell the wheels and find some gsr fatties or blades. Then I'd buy some oem floor mats and not worry about it anymore and just drive and maintain it. I'd also pick up a buffer down the line and spend some weekends/free time giving the paint work some love (not much you could do about the roof though). That would keep me busy if I had this car.

not mad, i feel this thread to be my own. i knew people would post and complain, and i know that everyone has there own opinion and many of them are rightfully so, but your reply and b16b_coupe's reply make me not want to be apart of this stoopid car scene, because im sure both of you have valuable information, advice, and experience, but you wasted your first impression on me with some idiotic, angry post.
dont you think i know all of the imperfections, seriously? i drive the car everyday.
i appreciate any constructive insight on fixing the problems.
i almost didnt post because andy told me he was painting your engine bay, and i thought, "if you are cool with andy, then you must be a cool guy." maybe i went overboard on my comment to you, but venting my thoughts to a faceless internet forum helps me not walk around with a chip on my shoulder.
b16b_coupe, do you want to know a secret? the lip is held on with nails! nails. i dont care about lips, i dont really care about wheels, or clean or the car itself so long as it gets me to where i need to go. i just posted because i figured some people might be more interested in it than i am. i didnt post to boost my ego, but to maybe boost my own interest in the car.

Try not to get do defensive on this site or they will eat you alive..if you shrug off the negative comments most people give up And yes I do like being an ******* sometimes hahahha
btw just noticed your boostedis sticker so for rocking that...I was hangin out with him just 30 minutes before he left the dyno day and had that wreck </TD></TR></TABLE>
not mad, i feel this thread to be my own. i knew people would post and complain, and i know that everyone has there own opinion and many of them are rightfully so, but your reply and b16b_coupe's reply make me not want to be apart of this stoopid car scene, because im sure both of you have valuable information, advice, and experience, but you wasted your first impression on me with some idiotic, angry post.
dont you think i know all of the imperfections, seriously? i drive the car everyday.
i appreciate any constructive insight on fixing the problems.
i almost didnt post because andy told me he was painting your engine bay, and i thought, "if you are cool with andy, then you must be a cool guy." maybe i went overboard on my comment to you, but venting my thoughts to a faceless internet forum helps me not walk around with a chip on my shoulder.
b16b_coupe, do you want to know a secret? the lip is held on with nails! nails. i dont care about lips, i dont really care about wheels, or clean or the car itself so long as it gets me to where i need to go. i just posted because i figured some people might be more interested in it than i am. i didnt post to boost my ego, but to maybe boost my own interest in the car.

If you don't care about your car why should we? You make no sense... Go re-read what you typed.
Don't come off with this bad *** attitude because you own a converted RHD, Ton's of people have them. We are not going to ride your nuts cause you own a converted coupe. Don't post pictures if you cant handle criticism
And if you knew about all the body mis alignment etc why didnt you fix it first and actually do a photoshoot..
I'm sorry but if i'm so called showing off my car to an online forum i would want it looking top notch to show people that i really care and try to make my car nice for what little money i have

i dont care about the car because i know there is so much that needs to be done and i have done as much i as can at this point. i do take offense to your comments because the are rude and spiteful, and they could have easily been kept to yourself.
remember when i went to you and said, "hey, tell me what you think of my car?"
and then i said, "can you do it as negatively as possible?"
oh, wait, i never did.
i can handle criticism, but i dont do well with bitchassness. if you dont like the car, fine. tell me. tell everyone. it seems hateful not to include some useful knowledge when you know as much as you do. hasnt your car been in magazines. i have the issue, and i was excited to see someone from our region in a national mag. the same mag that printed this editorial:
http://www.hondatuningmagazine....html
it is irritating to hear the same things, almost identical to what the other person says,
wtf am i going to do with this.

really, i know the lip is janky and the wheels are haggard. do you have anything constructive to say? for example: "i have some wheels that would look really nice on that car." or "password sells a lip that would look and fit better."
you think because this is the internet and its a forum of over-opinionated whiners that your post is acceptable. bro, grow up.
i dont have a bad *** attitude because my car is rhd. i wonder where you inferred that? i just posted it in the most humble manner i could. i am just documenting the car in the truest way i know. it stays dirty, everyday. i would like to do a photoshoot, but the car is not nearly ready. i dont know how to realign the body panels.
and, im not 'showing off', just showing the car. dont apologize, either. its ok, if you dont get it now, you probably never will.
