My stock tach blew again any one know why I keep blowing through tachs

I was running someone from a 20 roll and in the middle of third gear my tach stopped working. The tachometer had broken in the past but I just replaced it and it worked just fine. I checked the blue test wire in the bay for a pulse and I got one. I dont want to keep blowing through tachs. What do you guys think the problem is?

most likely a short circuit.. contacting metal... electrical shorts are pretty difficult to find

not really
