Any DIY crx cargo cover fix up??
SORRRY for the huge *** photos forget code to resize it and cardomain changed since I was last on (long time-been using it to hold my photos
)
Sup HT. Been a bit since I was in here. Anyways a while back (3 months??) went to the local junkyard and picked up the crx cargo cover one mint the other not so lucky...but was wondering if anyone has done any DIY fixer uppers on their cargo covers....here's the pix(not so good but it'll do)
first one is the good shape one

The not so lucky one...

but for this one I was thinking of maybe putting some small black hinge on the underside/back of it long as it function still but then the part where it's starting to pull looks messed up(has some kind of hard glue of some sort on there) so was like I wanted to see if I can re-carpet it or whatever but wasn't sure how or where to begin...
BUT just thought I ask and see if anyone has done any DIY fixer upper on their cargo covers...well let me know

yeah I want to do the hinge idea but the ugliness of the glue/mess says I should clean it up first or re-carpet or something first
I was thinking about getting a roll of carpet from the autozone. stripping the old carpet, and laying down the new w/ some spray adhesive. but the part that flips up; the wood or whatever, is it attached to the part thats stationary?
ya if ya recarpted it with the correct cloth like a speaker box carpet, you wouldnt need to hinge it at all.
using 3m isnt that messy lol

yeah that's what i was thinking that way I wouldn't have to use the hinge but I haven't done any speaker box carpet myself....pretty sure I can do it just don't know the stuff to use and where to begin/how to take off the old stuff off....
de1991hatch-----from the looks of it I think it's in piece cuz the one that's in mint condition is only together because the carpeting is still good and not rip that's all vs the teh one that is and is in two piece but liek I said not sure on how to take off the carpetting and don't want to break the board??
cuz it's on pretty good...
well if anyone has any DIY let me know otherwise I'll try something and post??.....

to remove the old just rip it off carefully, then go back with fine sandpapaer to smooth it out. speaker box carpet is plyable and easy to use, you can get it prob an audio store, ebay, maybe wal-mart also. Only use 3m spray glue its a big o can lol, use the black lable can , there is a red one also. when your ready to do it, spray carpet evenly and the wood also one at a time let them get tacky have a friend help put it on, make sure you have extra over the hanging over the side, and start in the pocket of the wood, then spray the rest of the carpet, then the other piece of wood let them tack up then do it over again.
will see if I can get the materials for cheap/decent and try it plus finding the right color to match the interior is the most important part but yeah thanks will see what happens and if I can get to it this weekend or something- have to fix some rust spots so spending some money on that
but will see.... sounds like you can do it yourself already have you done a DIY on it already
j/k but yeah will see what happens
