Default Chassis/Cabin Harness Wire Tuck - Cutting Ground Wires

I'm in the process of trying to minimize the amount of wires I have in my tailight/hatch harness. I noticed that a lot of the ground wires are grouped together and screw onto one screw. Is there a reason for this?

My plan is to cut the ground wire and screw it onto the nearest screw. Would this work? I plan to do this to all the other ground wires (tail light, rear defrost, fuel pump, etc.)
