How did you obtain said code?
You can only get "P" codes with an OBD-II Scanner (meaning your car has to be A) Scanned with an OBD-II scanner, and B) '96 or above). You can't use the jumper thing to obtain P codes, only standard OBD-I codes. So you should know exactly what it is because it should tell you on the screen...or if you have one of the cheap *** ones that won't tell you, you read it off the scanner wrong.

yes it is a canadian 1997 civic ex sedan model.
it originally comes with a Y7 but I just swapped in a Y8
