Default dx hatch hub question

my ek hatch is making a crazy noise from the right wheel, its like a thumping and its progressively gotten worst and worst, i thought it was my wheel bearing and so did my buddies. but im not 100 percent sure.. i know the axle is fine. it thumps more nad more as i accelerate... also the bolt on my upper control arm isnt the right bolt and it comes loose sometimes, so i DEFINITELY need to replace that. anyways the real question is... i was planning on just getting a whole hub etc off another car... do only the ek hubs fit or can i use a hub off of a different car.. im planning on just unbolting the control arms and axle etc and taking the whole hub etc and hoping that fixes my problem...

any input? thanks in advance

Sounds more like a bearing problem to me. jack up that wheel and see if there's any side to side play in it if.

FYI, you may already know this but the bearing is pressed into the knuckleand the hub is pressed into the inner race of the bearing....so if you're only getting a hub you're gonna have to take the knuckle off, press the hub out, press the bearing out, and then press the bearing into the spare hub you're getting..... IMHO, I would get a new hub and bearing, and find a used knuckle to press into at your leisure, that way you only have to unbolt the old one and rebolt the new.

Did you try swapping tires front to rear? I've had many wierd noises that ended up just being an old tire.

Simple enough to try.

thank you guys for input..

and Viscoelastic i was thinking of just getting the whole hub and knuckle off of my buddys car, i think i could get it off him for cheap, probably cheaper then just replacing the bearing and ****... like just unbolt it from the control arms ands swap the whole thing, what do you think?

Do you have the specific wheel that is causing the the sound? Cuz if its the rear, the wheel bearing is ntohin to face, if its comming fromt he front, ide still take it to a shop and have them press in a new 1. When you jack it up jsut spint he tire, if it was as bad as mine was youll be able to hear it grinding just spinning it by your hand in the air, and second see if theres any play in it while its up.

well i have to rotor and everything off right now so its just the hub, and even when i spin just the hub it seems kinda hard and ruff to spin.. my only concern would be taking off the hub and having a new wheel bearing pressed then that wsant the problem, rather then just replacing the whole hub and knuckle, is it even possible that its a different problem and replacing the hub and knuckle would fix it but a bearing woudlnt? sorry for the confusing sentance i hope you know what i mean .. haha thanks!
