I've tried searching and I just don't know what to search for I guess.. But a recently rebuilt motor was put in and it idles fine and doesn't over heat or anything but at idle it kind of sounds like a bird chirping sound coming from the engine. If someone knows what this could be please let me know... And it's not a squeal like a loose belt sound... TIA

my friend had air coming out of his intake at idle on a d16 and it sounded like a whistle... i dont know y but the air was coming back out the intake instead of in to the motor.
do you have the tube from the valve cover running to the intake tube? my car wistled before i got a breather and covered the hole on the intake tube.

my car had a chirping sound back then too, but that was only because my wire harness was rubbing against one of my belts, I caught it in time before anything worst could happen.
do you have an intake? My y8 with an intake has a chirpping/ bird sound at about 3k rpms. Ive been told it could be the TB gasket and also the breather setup and to just unplug the hose from the black box on the back and plug it back in
Check your coolant level or under the car for any leaks. An erratic chirping noise is a very common symptom of a failing water pump. Run the car till it's hot and then park it and turn it off then check the weep hole and see if any coolant Is leaking out. If it is, it's your water pump. Good luck!
