Default am I about to blow up my A/C?

I have a 2000 civic EX. the A/C is dead so I bought a recharge bottle with a gauge from auto zone. I followed the dir. & as soon as I hooked it up & opened it up the gauge went straight to RED-DANGER... does this mean i have a blockage or something? or did i do it wrong? theses were my steps as per the can...
turn car on & run A/C for 3 mins.
hook up
open it up till you hear it leave the can
... thats when it went straight to RED-DANGER...

theres very littly about the ac system that you can just guess.... id suggest taking it into a shop that does ac work and pay them to inspect the system! ive noticed the ac system on hondas are not forgiving at all! to much or not enough pressure will shut the system down quickly. youll blow some Orings out before the system really blows up.

pay the good money and get it checked out by a pro with good gauges and equipment!
