Rattling Sound???
I drive a 97' LX and just recently a have been hearing a rattling noise when I accelerate. It isn't making the sound the whole time I accelerate, it is usually around 1900-2000 rpm's. When I looked underneath to see if I could tell where it was coming from, it seemed to be the catalytic converter. Could that be the problem or would it be something else?
It's probably the heat shield on the cat. Hit it with something and see if that is the problem. If it is you can use a large hose clamp to keep it from rattling.
It's most likely the heat shield. Had the same problem on my Acura Vigor and my current Accord. The bottom piece falls off due to rust so the top of the heatshield rattles. If you take it to a mechanic he can put it on a lift and take it out for you. Should only charge you like 10 dollars if you go to someone who's cool. If not you can jack up your car and go under and pull the piece of metal.
PS: once pulled you don't need to replace the shield so no worries. If that doesn't work then let us know.
