B18 or H22
so i was speaking with my step dad who is a ASE honda tech. and he told me that it would be more beneficial to run a stock H22 in my 96 civic coupe as opposed to a B18b1...I just want to know what you guys think...

H22s make more power, but they require more work to swap in and have more problems associated with them, things like broken axles and mounts, however if you use a quality mount kit and good axles its should be reasonably reliable. B18 is very nice though in that it just bolts in like it was meant to be there, whereas the H22 requires a mount kit and enlarging the shifter opening in the floor for the cable shifter. H22 also require more wiring. In the end both are good swaps, and H22s are cheap, especially considering the kind of power they make. It really comes down to what you want.

i would go b18 like gsr or ls/vtec or something..... its alot more simpler to swap in trust me... yeah you will get more bang for your buck in just buying the motor but in order for it to be reliable you need hasport mounts and hasport or dss axles easily reaching $1000... ive been threw plenty of other combinations of mounts and axles but none as reliable as hasport and the only h22 i would get is the h22a which is obd1 and to put it in your obd2 car there gonna be a lil bit of wiring headache... just stick with b-series, youll be happier... trust me

i have a h22 and defenetly think it was worth it, one thing i dont like is the feel of the shifter, i have some cheap brand mounts, one gsp axle, and one autozone axle from a 88-91 integra and haven't had any problems yet. i would of been disapointed if i would of swapped in a b18, cause i thought about it
haha really they are both very good motors for swaps. it really bdepends if your are goin all motor or turbo. if all motor then the h22 is da way to go. i swapped a euro r h22 into a 98 civic and that thing stock flew. the wiring is a pain but if you take it one step at a time its not that bad. if boostin get the b18. or go crazy and boost the h22.
