Default Anyone have 98-0484 or 98-0184?

I recently got an armrest with a badge from a jeremyvr6, who purchased it from someone else. The badge has the 98 part still, but the rest of the number has been scratched out. It looks like either 0184 or 0484. Just wondering if anyone knows either of these cars. The guy Jeremy got it from doesn't know what the number is, so he probably got it scratched out.

That'd be the one. That Civic console is now sitting in the closet.

I guess the thing to do would be to ask Joe if he knows the status on either of those...

He'll see the thread and respond just as quickly as a PM. In the meantime, maybe someone else will chime in. I looked through a few pages of F/S threads and didn't see anything.

Thanks Jim. The more I look at it, the more it looks like 0484.

98-484 was Arno from Southern California. I think he had it stolen from his garage.

Edit: it is Arno. https://honda-tech.com/zerouser...99273

And now what's left of his R is in VA.

Stop right there.
Call the cops and tell them the story.
It's stolen property and let them work on catching the fockers.

No, he sold 98-0484.

I don't have any info on 98-0184, but there's a good chance she was on the east coast. Most of the VINs in heR area are in VA, PA, and MD.

IMO: Scratched out # = stolen. No other reason to do that.

Actually I do have some info on 98-0184. HeR badge was riding around in a riced out Civic in VA this summer. Two forum members let me know about it and I'll see if they can chime in with more info.

The gut I got it from seems pretty stand up. I figured it was stolen but knew it would be in better hands with chris than on some other civic.

Then that would be this badge, since this armrest came on what looks to be an EG center console. I'm sure it is out of a stolen car, which is why I made the thread. The owner may want what was theirs back.

Yeah, I've got no reason to think the guy you got it from would have anything to do with it.

<--- who is loosing respect for all of you involved.
Wouldn't you want it, if your car was stolen for someone to call the cops if a part was found?
Maybe the cops won't do much, but at least make the attempt to try.

I think that's exactly why elaum made this thread, to find the owner. Get them involved first, then go from there.

Do you call the cops every time you find an ITR specific part to check to see if its stolen? Who's to say its stolen anyways? If we can find out more info on the car, and find it was stolen, then we'll proceed.

Joe, CJ's(Ultraspeed DC2) R isn't in that VIN range for this badge is it?

Oh c'mon man. Cops won't do a thing for this. It's untraceable. It's passed through too many hands already. They're not going to put in the effort to track one person to the next to the next, etc over an armrest. Plus, there's no proof anywhere which caR this came from unless the original owner comes out and says yes, this was mine and it was stolen. Even with all the data I have on badges/VINs I can't narrow it down to even a couple possible VINs. If you're lucky, the cops might give Acura a call....find out there's no record of badges to VINs and call it Case Closed.

This is being dealt with in the only way it can be done, in the community. I've got a record of all of this now so if someday more info comes up, I know who to contact again. I have quite a few badges in the Registry that have popped up in other vehicles. I made a note with the persons info and that's all I can do. Maybe someday the original owner will come in and wonder what happened to heR and we'll have some info.

To the VA people, how often do you ever run across this shady or seemingly straight up guy? Any chance he has other R parts?

I've talked to him before, he used to have an R a while back and sold it. I also purchased my n1 from him, other than the armrest I've never noticed him selling anything shady but I'll research his posts on the other forum and see to make sure.

He posts quite a bit. He had a 98 ITR shell with a JDM front end, made a thread about it here. I think you helped him narrow the shell down to either 0103 or 0104. EViLSTaR I think is his user name, you can find him in the FS thread with this item listed. I've never personally dealt with him, but with as much as I see him post/sell stuff I wouldn't suspect him at all. Probably purchased it from someone else to put it in the shell he had.

Oh yeah, I remember him. He still posts here especially in the CW pic thread....he misses his R. Yeah he bought it as a shell and was trying to rebuild it. He prolly bought the armrest to eventually go in it. When he sold it, other parts had to go.
