This light has refused to go out after the engine is started a couple of times. Anyone have experience with this? (03 EX V6 Sedan)

 

if your srs light stays on, then you need to goto a dealer and have it looked at. Please know that if you get in an accident with that light on your airbags will NOT deploy. If you want to clear the light yourself and you have your radio code then simply disconnect your battery for a min or 2 and see if it stays out, If there is indeed a fault than the light will stay on and will need to be checked at a dealer

 

What I was hoping for was a common cause for this problem, so I would not have to go through the self diagnostic procedures. I have been able to get codes displayed in the gage (odometer) display before, for another problem, but it took me a while, and I would rather not have to go through all that again.

 

How's the battery doing? Anything odd happen before the light came on?

 

My opinon, have it checked out soon. Safety is not something that should be left unchecked.

 

The battery should be fine. It's less than 2 years old. I know a weak battery can cause this type of thing, so I might have it checked out. If the light comes on again during the week, I will do some checking over the coming weekend. Trust me, I hate things that don't work like they're supposed to, and I will fix it. I was only hoping that there was a common cause, that would quickly narrow the possibilities. Guess not. Thanks guys.

 

it could be the usual seatbelt buckle. but it's hard to tell. If it were me i'd do the self diagnostic. At least short the MES and get the code for me.

 

I did some checking, and found the buckle was a common cause for the 6th gen cars, but didn't know if it was a continuing problem for 7th gens. Would a small dog being on the front passenger seat cause the light to come on? My Mini-Dachshund was in the passenger seat, the first time the light came on.

 

yes that is possible, there is a sensor in the pass seat. Also seat belt buckles are uncommon at least from my experience at the dealership from going bad like the 6th gen

So you are talking about the thingy at the top of the under-dash fuse-box? And the codes will come up on the Odo display? I didn't know if it worked for SRS or not. I'm not a tech, so I'm not a professional at this stuff (I caught hell just getting the kick panel off to get to the fuse-box last time). But me and my Helm manual can usually figure a problem out, given time.

 

Just like the older hondas with the SCS connector. Take the two pin yellow connector out of the fuse box and short the connector. The SRS light will blink out the code.

If the light ever comes on again, I will do just that. Thanks for the help. I wish that little panel was as easy to remove as the one on my 92 Accord was. That thing is really in there, and the 92 Accord passenger side kick panel was a simple tug. Oh well, I love a challenge.

 

Most common cause (if your vehicle has no history of previous accidents and airbag deployments) is a faulty seat belt buckle switch. Those are warrantied for life, so take it to the dealer and they'll replace it for free.
