Default Leakdown Testing help

Wife and I was bored today, so i figured i'd pick up a tool just to kill my boredem..
Its a US General leakdown tester from habor freight..

Did a compression test and i got 290 Across the board on a mildly warm engine, it wasn't fully operating temp...

I went down and hooked up my compressor..
I read the directions and followed them.. the needle on cyl 1 barely moves its like .5% am i doing this right?...
I set the psi 100 and i set the second gauge to where it sat 0 at start.. then i hook it up to the cyl i'm testing.. Thoughts?

One guage is set static. 100 if that is what you have. Then hook up the line (TDC) and read the other guage. Probably 5% or 95% same differance.
