Default Vtec, Steam Cleaner, Gear Skip, Internal Squeak

Hey, would it be wise to vtec in 1st gear? o_O...

Also, what would be the negative impact on the car if I were to switch gears from 2nd to 5th without the car stalling?

And are steam cleaning recommended? I hear they can damage some cables and whatnot.

Lastly, does anyone notice a squeak in the car (noticeable mostly if hood down) when it goes over the tiny bumps between lanes? Might have something to do with the wheel changing and how the suspension on my espelier isn't working right..?

Thanks in advance!

you can vtec in any gears you want(not sure about the R), if honda dont want you to vtec in first gear they would've taken it out from the ECM. But do beware you need to get it warm up to operational temperture before "gunning" it

about skippig gear(esp when you skipping 2 gear): don't, habit of skipping gear wore out syncro, what happen is that the syncro is trying to match the speed of the input and output gear, if you are on top of the 2nd and trying to be in 5, the syncro needs to slow things down big time. plus wtf are you trying to do with skipping gear? punch yourself if you try to save gas in a sport car, punch yourself harder if you are doing it for fun.

steam cleaning what? interior? exterior? engine internal? if you are talking about engine bay then don't, use simple green and elbow grease only.

for the last question: i never drive with my hood up so i wouldn't know

It would be the wisest thing you can do - there is nothing wiser than VTEC in first gear.

minimal negative impact on the car - massive negative impact on you - if you are doing this to save gas, you are sadly mistaken. Gears have been around for a long time and tend to work quite well as intended. And the world would mock you. more.

steam clean 'are' not recommended for your engine bay. keep it greasy.

Are you sure it's coming from outside the cabin - a lot of people complain about the roof latches making a subtle squeak noise. Solution - roof down always (or a small rubber disc).

Sure why not put the car in vtec in first gear, but like someone said above make sure you car is warmed up.

But there's no freaking reason to switch from 2nd to 5th for what ever reason.

As for the rest...

only vtec 3rd gear.

it's too much hp for the higher or lower gears. 3rd gear all the way, then stop.

My car is pretty squeaky when I'm going over bumps and stuff... I believe it has something to do with the flexing in the frame of the car + the convertible top mechanism
