mini-me swap , did I get screwed?
Picked up a D16Y8 head for my Y7, it was dark so I couldn't check it properly when I was picking it up. well, just now realized that the head has been dropped (or something) when they were taking it off probably.
the bracket for the distributor is broken, and the place the coolant hose plugs into is broken also, so my question is that will this still work or I shouldn't waste my time installing it and figuring something is seriously wrong. I've never done this sort of engine work before so I'm a little worried. here's some pics of the head:
the head:

brocken distributor mount:

broken coolant line:

some more pics:

Should I be worried or it looks alright? don't know if that distributor is going to be a big problem
Another question, how do I prep this before putting it on? it looks kinda nasty the way it is right now, I want to clean it up a bit before I install it, whats the proper way of doing this?
thanks in advance

i think the distributor plate can be swapped. but, buy yourself some valve seals and re-do those. take the rocker arm assembly off and clean everything. replace all seals and gaskets before you put that one on. do your valve lash adjustments to factory spec.

I don't think can be swapped
it is all one piece, so I guess I'm screwed
is this the kit Ineed to buy?

Aside from having a head with leaky exhaust valves that looks like it was owned by a complete moron just before it sat in a junkyard for the past 20 years, I'd say it's good to go.
The water outlet is replaceable and the other two holes should be fine to hold the distributor, but I would really suggest sending that pile of **** to a machine shop for a resurface (cyl #4 has surface damage), a valve job, some new valve seals, and a thorough cleaning.

how much does a machine shop charge? can I do it myself? I son't really want to drop too much $$ in this since at the end its just a d-series. Whats the most affordable way of getting this up and running? I can do many things myself with proper instructions.
how do I fix the valves?
thanks

its not the broken dizzy mount or water neck i'd be concerned about... you can get those at the junkyard or leave em as is
its the valves i'd be concerned with. you need a NEW set, and it would be a good idea to get new seals
pay a machine shop 2 or 3 hundred bucks and get a valve job

what do you see wrong with the valves with them still in the head?
i would say look at the mark in cylinder 4 before enything else gets invested. it might just be carbon but it looks deformed to me.
also the dizzy bolt will be fine, and the waterneck. it will still seal. .

yes, I don't get either, whats wrong with the valves?
the cyl4 just looks like that from the pic, its there's actually no damage there just some buildup. but, upon further inspection I found some hairline cracks on the dizzy bracket due to the drop impact probably, so figured its not worth the risk to spend time on it. called the seller and he agreed to exchange it for another head for me, so my friend is taking it back for the exchange (different city). we'll see what happens.
ps. I'm looking for some info on preparing the head before putting it on, including cleaning and maybe some cheap upgrades? I'd appreciate any info.
