Well
after much anticipation and excitement leading up to the taupo track day
it ended pretty quickly in a somewhat bizzare circumstance..
it was a really wet day..
well.. if i knew what happend id be pissed off.. but im not because i HAVE no idea what went wrong ha
was heading down to the top hairpin of track, wet track 4th gear follwing a red EG braked about 250m before the corner in a straight line, travelling 150-160kph pretty soft entry etc car went full 180 deg and off the track at a 45 deg angle.. backwards... into the wall around 120-150 kph.. was about 12th lap or so, no different to any other lap
i dont understand how the car went off on such a big angel.. from braking in a straight line, it hit the tyre wall after about 40m of sliding on the grass and bounced almost back onto the track. the distance it bounced off was enough for me to put the ute and trailor between the wall and the car easy
checked the car out today to see if i can see anything wrong with suspension...
i did find that the rear lower control arm bush on the passenger side had snapped its adjustment brackets but im not totally sure if that happend before or after the wall...
could have been too much water on the track possibly hydroplaned but yea again it was no worse than previous laps. was taking it pretty soft guys were passing me an wasnt pushing hard at all. i dont even remember anything of the car spinning just heading backwards.. thought someone had tapped me from behind
the car is hell bent, only sits on 3 axle stands and all the floor is buckled, fuel pump housing is poped up off the floor and the BRIDE seat rail is fairly buckled and trash.
lucky i hit backwards, would have been alot sorer, and motor would be owned.
atm just stripping it down and selling out everything i guess.. cant be stuffed finding another shell, would have to be an EG an it wouldnt make me happy
sorry guys

Sucks to see an R in that condition....
As we can see racing on a wet surface can be tricky sometimes...
I'm glad you are ok.

is this the same car that had the track wing and white RG's?!
dont go to an eg, i couldnt see beign happy myself, thought has crossed my mind a lot to get into something cheaper. once you have the best of something, its hard to downgrade

I couldnt agree more. Rain is fun but you have to respect it and sometimes you have got to pay to play. Its just something you have to contend with.
Good luck on the rebuild. Glad your where ok.

It could be fixed but it would be cheaper to buy another Type R , can get one for about $8000 if you look around in decent condition.

yeah and end up like this guy. definitely worth it the risk
you can say **** happens all you want but regardless if its a type R or not Id be really pissed and feel pretty foolish if I wrecked my car in the rain because I wanted to be super race car driver and track in the wet. to each his own. call me cautious or ghey or whatever but i have never spun my car, or had more than two wheels off during an event but Im sure if I drove in the rain things would probably be different because the margin for error is much less.

Ok, cautiously gehy
But driving in a HPDE/ Track in the rain teaches you more then I could ever tell you. Trust me on one thing, You will slip and side more then you thought, but with every slip and slide you will learn. Nothing like it.
Try SNOW at LRP way back when... Geeze I nearly **** myself, not to mention the sub freezing track conditions
