I just recently put a built gsr into my 89 si with a y1 b16 tranny. I have hasport mounts and linkage, brand new axles, brand new clutch and flywheel.

Ok the problem is my car shifts into 1st and 2nd like butter but goes nowhere, when i let the clutch out its like neutral BUT 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse work fine any ideas on what could be wrong??

History of the transmission? I have a S20 transmission in my room that has 4th gear smashed flat, but would still shift fine into and out of the gear.

 

pull the transmission apart. something is broken or worn for those gears

 

either the linkage is messed up, or your 1-2 shift fork is toast

 

if it was the linkage, i would think that 5th and reverse would also be affected. my money is on the internals
