problem getting propper type s pistons....
So my engine shop told me today that they have ordered and recieved 4 sets of type s pistons for H22 and that when they compare the 2 different pistons that the dome size on the new piston isn't much more than the stock not enough for even .5 more compression. anyone ever seen 2 different type s pistons???
If I can't find the right ones I think I'm gonna try out the Mahle gold series pistons.
Not sure how well those mahle pistons do with the cylinder walls but they say no sleves required.
any help is appreciated.

Tell Rebello to STFU and put the Type S pistons in. Just because they don't think the dome looks much bigger than your stock H22 pistons doesn't mean anything really. I wonder if they are actually taking the compression height and dome volumes and doing the math, or if they are eyeballing the pistons. The difference between a usdm and a jdm B16 piston is less than .91 cc's, but it makes almost a 1 point compression change. I wish you had gone to Motorsport Tech...
the mahle pistons have a special coating on them that it acutally helps the cylinder walls or somthing like that... i would get them... my brothers ordering a set for his h2b build..
I don't think a reputable shop like rebello would look at 2 pistons with their bare eyes and tell me the domes were different. but who knows...

I know about the coating they use for the frm sleeves what I don't know is how long the motor will last with them in the sleeves and how reliable they are.

No there should only be one Type S P5P J00 piston.
Although they do have three part numbers
13010 P5P J00 for the standard size A.
13020 P5P J00 for standard size B and
13030 P5P J00 for the .25mm over sized ones.
Did the shop order OEM or a knock off aftermarket piston? There should be no need to question it if they are indeed genuine Honda pistons.

upon further research I have come to understand that on the block above the water pump there should be a series of 4 letters A's and B's wich reference which piston goes in which bore. anyone have a pic of this I haven't confirmed this since my block is at the machine shop but I do have a bare H22A4 block at home and I'll check that one when I get home. is my info correct?
and does anyone know the difference between piston A and piston B???
is it that 1 has a floating wrist pin and the other has a pressed wrist pin?
My machine shop checked and my block had all B's

I can't tell the difference between the JDM ITR pistons and the JDM p30 pistons. But If you were to run the JDM P30 pistons on a stock ITR head/block It would simply bring your compression from 11.1:1 to 11.3:1
