Vtec and gsr not working in B18, possible vtec rebuild kit? drilling of ls head?
Alright, my mechanic wanted me to post up on getting a vtec working, ever since we put on another head on my gsr swap, vtec doesnt work..he wants to know if there is a vtec rebuild kit, like gaskets seals all that, and if you need to drill a hole in the head for something, its a 94 acura gsr engine with ls tranny and this head, not sure what head it is I think he does though since he put it on, car has bigger/valve work and cams.
Any help is deeply appreciated

Why did you replace the head to begin with? DON'T drill anything, its even scary to think were you even got that ideal from. The car drives perfectly normal besides vtec not working? You don't even know what head was put on your own motor? Hopefully he didn't forget or remove the tiny gasket that sits between the head and block........
when you put the head back on did you replace all the o-rings, if you didnt oil is most likely leaking and not pressurizing in the bars(Not sure what to call them) and therefor not activating vtec, its leaking inside the head so it wont damage anything but you wont see it either
Doubt that.
Things that make vtec not work..
1. low oil, make sure oil is full
2. check engine light is on, if it is check the code and fix it.
3 you did not reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery after swapping the head.

Plenty of oil, check engine light comes on once and a while when i hit like 7k rpm, i think thats because the oil isnt being needed by vtec, i reset the ecu, its a p72 emissions obd1 94-01 gsr, virgin, so where do i start? can i hook up the diagnostic wires to mechanics computer and go from there or what? thanks guys...I muight just by a whole new setup? there like 150$

Maybe the pin that locks the rockers fell out? Its very easy for this to happen if someone tilts the head around...
Some good news dude!

The pin is activated hydrolically from what I understand and if you're missing a dowel pin oil pressure is just released through the cam cap instead of through rocker arm.
#23 is the dowel pin and #23 is the washer. Looks like we can remove your cam cap and see it's it there or not on friday. Another good thing to know is that they're failry inexpensive parts.
PIN, DOWEL (8X10) = $1.58

I didnt replace it, i think what he meant was he just sent it out to be milled maybe? it has some head work, bigger valves, cams, etc...
the check engine light, doesnt come on all the time, just beating on it a little bit, like i said 7k, usually 3rd gear, almost never comes on in 1st and 2nd gear.

thats what I was referring to a lot of times people drop the o-ring for the pin and no vtec oil presure = no vtec

for sure ur vtec head is a gsr head...thats the only head dat cmes with dat type of manifold...n bout ur vtec not kicking in it might be dat ur vtec wiring is not connectec...check if ur mechanic didnt for get to connect any wires after he installed the head...
gsr cams, they have 30k miles on them, i took off the valve cover, put that dowel pin in with a washer, new gasket on the cover, i checked the other 2 dowels on the alternator side and there not clogged, uhh, im going to go to a junk yard and get a new vtec selenoid. but new oil everythign you guys told me i tried...everything looks good under the cover though...thanks...any more suggestions
