Type R Transmission problem!!!! help
Need help on finding out whats wrong with my Type R trans. It doesn't want to go into reverse. It gets stuck when I try to put it in reverse. Its able to go to the right side above reverse but not down into reverse. Before this happen once in a while in would grind going into fifth gear. What could be the problem??? syncros, clutch???
Replace the 5-R synchro set and 5th gear if necessary. Happens all the time. You're lucky it's the cheapest out of all the synchro sets.

yeah you need to replace synchro set like IN VTEC said.
the grinding on 5th you were experiencing develops burrs off the synchro mesh teeth on the inside of the sleeve from crashing/grinding onto the gear synchro mesh teeth. they are basically sharp 'claws' now at the end of the sleeve mesh and that scratches and [freak]s up the splines on the hub. enough shifting and those burrs will bind the sleeve and keep from sliding from one gear to another.

Assuming they are both Type R, yes.
