B16 redlines at 3k?

Default B16 redlines at 3k?

ok so my friend has a 96 civic 2 dr with a jdm b16a. he put got the motor in and wired and went to start it it runs but redlines at 3 grand anyone have some advice on what could be done to fix this?

its the crank angle sensor,what ecu are u using and what year is the b16?

ecu is p2t 99-00 si ecu

motor is a jdm b16a out of a 92-95 hatch

why dont you try using an OBD 1 ecu with it rather than an OBD2

those motors didnt come with a crank angle sensor,thats your problem,you have to get a jumper harness and an obd 1 vtec ecu,that obd2 ecu is calling for the crank angle sensor and there isnt one there,that will make it rev to only 3 k,its in like a safety mode

actually there is a second option were u can keep the ecu you have you wire the wire that usually plugs into the crank angle sensor and you wire into to your dizzy or directly to the ecu

i have no idea what that is we did what the thing said but its an obd1 motor and it has no ckp to bypass the ckf so we are stuff now

what you mean reset the cel? we unplugged the battery then did the trick and then plugged the battery back in but heres the thing the trick is to use the signal from the ckp to trick the computer into thinking theres a ckf but the motor has no ckp i dont think how is it going to get a signal
