Default Short or long Ram Intake?

is either one necessarily better? No front mount just short ram with 2 pipes to make short ram long ram...what do you suggest?

Save your money and turbo or swap. D16's are slow and always going to be slow unless Forced Induction is added or a swap in dropped in its place. Unless this is a special thing to you and want to keep it SOHC.

You'll stick with a short ram intake for the rest of your life when your car gets hydrolock from a cold air intake.

I've had a CAI (AEM V2) on for a while, ran it all last winter and no hydro lock.
Same thing with a friend of mine, he ran his on there for years with no issues. (both of us have B16's if that even matters)

If hydrolock is a big concern for you, just get a bypass valve and try to avoid big puddles.

Either way on a D16 CAI or short ram doesn't really make a huge diff. Hell on a B16 I doubt it even makes a huge diff. Just pop on a cheap short ram and save your $$$ for a turbo.

You'll be fine in the winter, it's the flash floods from the rain that you'll have to worry about.

Oh my god, STFU. He asked which would be better. If you aren't going to give an answer, just proceed to the next thread and don't post just to watch your count go up. From that perspective, if you want a fast car a honda is a waste.

OP: by long ram I suppose you mean a cold air intake? Me personally, i'd go with the short ram if i were you. A few reasons why. On a SOHC bolt ons will produce minimal to no gain. Literally, you're talking about maybe an extra horse power or 2. A short ram is cheaper first off, and being as that a short ram may give you 1 to 2 hp and a CAI may give you 2 to 3 the difference is so small you probably won't notice it so i'd just go with the cheaper. Imo, a short ram looks "cooler" for some reason, but that's just imo.

Hydrolock is no fun, if you have to ask this question, you are probably the kind of person to run through a big *** puddle with your CAI and get enginelock. You don't run that risk with a short ram.

I'd advise you the same as B16AGUY. Go the cheap route, throw on a short ram, then save your money for something like a turbo or a better motor in the future if you want to be faster.

dito save your money and get a SRI.... as long as you dont LIKE driving thru large puddles a CAI should be fine... now if your lowerd and do drive thru a few large puddles than i would highly sugest a SRI or at least a aem bypass valve.....

i like the looks of a CAI more myself, but when i droped my black 99 i decided to change to a SRI to prevent hydrolock.
