First some history about the car to put this in perspective:
I purchased this car (98 ITR) about 10 months ago.
The guy I bought it from was the only owner, the car had about 50,000 miles on it.
He claimed it was in perfect working condition, and a few test drives seemed to confirm it.
About 2 weeks after I got it, something strange happened. In retrospect it wasnt strange, considering what had happened. While shifting from 2nd to 3rd it felt like the clutch was disengaged.
Over the course of 2 more weeks, it happened a couple more times.
Finally, on the 3rd time, the pressure plate <finished> cracking and that was the end of that.
I had a mechanic replace the clutch, and great everything was wonderful.
However, I think there may be some left over tranny problems.
The car has always been a little rougher 2nd to 3rd than anything else.

Current situation:
About 2 weeks ago, when leaving a restaurant with my wife, I put the car in reverse, and heard a really horrible noise when i let out the clutch. Back to neutral, back to reverse , same noise. It was hard to describe, sort of like grinding, but also like something had come off in the tranny and was being thrown around.
The 3rd time into reverse no noise.
Then for 2 weeks everything was fine.
I noticed last saturday that something was different.
When I hit VTEC now, the rev and noise are lessened.
It feels almost like im NOT going into vtec.
In 2nd (and only 2nd) when I hit VTEC it makes this god awful noise. First it clicks then it thunks.
For lack of better words to describe this noise, but if someone else has heard it they will know what I mean.
Also, it doesnt always do it, sometimes its fine, (other than the seemingly no vtec), but other times it has sort of revved up like its going into vtec, but then revved back down.
I checked the oil level saturday when it first happened.
The level was low, but not too low.

Anyone have any ideas???
