Default hatch back / CRX sunroof

so im getting a free sunroof from a CRX, if i where to cut up my headliner and the roof, would it work? before i get all sawzall happy i want to know.....like if i where to take mine out, put the crx everything in, and then cut my old one up so it takes up the rest of the space from the end of the CRX one back...think it would work? im sick of no sunroof....i like to be able to look up and see the sky, not an ugly as [freak] headliner

thanks HT

the opening is kind of limited because of the crx hatch, you'll see an area about half the size of the sunroof. but if you can fabricate, i'm sure you can make it fit

no, you cant just put the stock CRX sunroof in a non sunroof 3dr hatch.

its not even like the CRX and 3dr hatch sunroofs are the same.

unless you have SERIOUS fabrication and welding skills, this is impossible.

putting a sun roof in a car that did not have one to begine with is not a new concept.

Would the roof line/contour match?

I would look for an aftermarket sunroof... lighter weight.

x2...i would consider a good aftermarket one. the crx one is heavy and not see through, though that may be what you want. i think the roof line would be close

completely different contour front to back and side to side. If the contour was the same, honda would have used the same unit in the CRX and the hatch. Not a matter of your sawzall skills, a matter of contour. And somebody needs to tell you there is absolutely NO logic in cutting a hole in your roof for a sunroof. Either A. The entire roof skin should be swapped for a unit with the sunroof hole already in it or B. Splice in the portion of the roof skin from donor car into correct location. Theres a big difference between a roof with a hole cut in it with a sawzall and an OEM hole with a downward lip, two ply, with spot welds. First off it looks better and secondly it's not going to rust like a ho. And seriously have you ever taken a sawzall to a thin sheet of metal like a roof?? Your just gonna warp the **** out of it. Even shops that drop in ghetto as "universal" sunroofs atleast use a cut off wheel.
