Default MFactory 4.92 FD

Just wondering what others real world experiences were with this product. I have already rebuilt my sir2 b16 tranny with a mfactory 4.92 fd, long 1st, gsr 5th, and gearspeed 3,4,5 carbon synchros. I would like to see how they are holding up in drag racing use. I have heard all the horror stories of other fd's breaking after only a couple runs.

If you're pushing serious power, I would recommend going with the Pro Series.

The oil passages for the First Gear needle bearings have sharp leading edges, which hasn't been an issue as far as I have seen.

The splines for the 1-2 hub don't taper out like factory counter shaft, but hasn't been an issue yet.

Otherwise, good stuff.

If youre not making serious power, many other companies make FD's as well...PIC, SRR, T1R, etc

I doubt he is boosted. Big power guys with big slicks run a 4.7 most of the time. Should be perfectly fine on an NA setup. If you're making big NA torque, make sure you're preloading on launches. More so for the axles sake than the trans.

I run the 4.05 900 plus hp. Launching at 13-14 psi put of the hole, cutting 1.6 60's with 24.5's at about 5.5-6 psi in the slicks. over 40 passes with numerous 9's and low 10's for testing and its holding just fine!!

Yeah I wont be making too much power with my n/a 1.9L so I guess I should be alright. Thanks for your help. If anyone has any more insight feel free to share.

Danny Smith (turbotyper@SPEC) was putting around 750whp through our Street Series 4.05 for 2 full seasons before he switched to the PRO and it still looks brand new, so I think your 4.928 should hold up fine under NA power
